Trbiž-Spital-Gmünd-Malta. By car to the parking at Kölnbreinstüberl hut, then about 50 m on skis. It was cold and windy besides, the entry gully in shade. I was a bit worried about snow that could be hard and frozen, but luckily it snowed here with last falls and not icy. Nice to walk if on wind crust. Only the Austrian lady had some trouble, slipped turning at the transition from gully to flatter part, slid 100 m. We quickly approached to help but no need. Still she finished the ascent and back to valley. We progressed nicely on wide slopes, after good 2.30 hrs at cross where most end tour. Despite wind sometimes rudely pulling, we geared up for summit. Given snow firmness with no intent to soften, we left skis at cross. We cramponed up steep snowfield to top, overcame some bare rocky sections, sat a bit on summit, wind eased, enjoyed views. Then down to cross and skied. First windblown dry snow on hard base, lower snow slightly softened. Above gully break I put on skins again and went to prominent west saddle visible from afar. Snow at 12.00 when starting to ski just right softened, skiing pure pleasure. We skied 50 m to car, had a beer, strolled a bit on big dam.
