Malvuerich Alto

It is true that the mentioned hill is already in another "category", it is also true that it has nothing in common with Krniške Skale (Gartnerkofel). Above all, each lies in its own country. Therefore, I believe that Mali vrh, its Slovenian name, deserves its own thread where ascents on all possible paths leading to it can be recorded.

My princess and I started at the abandoned Guardia di Finanza barracks, right below Mokrine, went to Winkel Alm pasture and from there over Prídol saddle - Sella Pridola via "via normale" to the summit. Wonderful path, beautiful crossing under the hill, enchanting views. At the summit we of course rang the bell, not just once, looked around while refreshing ourselves, also chatted and each pondered this and that privately, then descended the same path to the starting point. No special features on the path, only at the starting point there are huge logs waiting for transport, so park along the road before the bend, as you can't park opposite the barracks. Great outing that calls for repetition from another starting point and addition of the lower Mali vrh nasmeh

I have to admit I wasn't particularly drawn to this peak. I hadn't even known the name, nor had I heard anything about it before. But Jože kept insisting because he climbed it a year ago and if he liked it somewhere, he wants me to see it toonasmehnasmeh.
Well, now I'm excited and maybe Monte Cavallo will follow soon, which is quite nearby.

As said, first time for me in these parts. I only remember that, I'd say about twenty years ago, I once skied on Mokrine and that was it. So, on Thursday we drove through Pontebba in this direction (about 120 km from us) and parked a bit below the pass. We headed past Winkelalm pasture, where eyes are drawn to a nice little house with red roof and red windows that doesn't look kitschy at all, but quite the opposite. Past Pridola saddle then towards the slightly more demanding northern side of Malurch, marked with orange-blue blazes and thus part of the Alta Via CAI Pontebba pathnasmeh. Caution is needed on the path, especially if wet, as it was on Thursday. Two hikers turned back and preferred the lower one, which is practically almost a strollnasmeh.

We did a loop path, so from the higher summit we went to the lower summit and from it continued on the aforementioned path, which is an exemplary example of a beautiful walking path with gentle descents and also ascents that practically encircles Malurch and passes through two tunnels with several little windows with nice views on known peaks.

After the tour we drove to Mokrine pass to catch the view of our peak across the lake. Later we also looked from the stone bridge into the bed of Rio Bombaso river, which is filled with plenty of colorful fairly large scree, which seemed very attractive to me. Of course, can't go without swimming in the waters of Rabeljsko Lake, even if just a couple strokesnasmeh. But it was worth it, even though the water had a mere 17 degrees.

Only peak above Mokrine not swallowed by clouds yesterday. P at bend by hut and up Via normale, wonderful path, descent via Alta via CAI direct to road. If anything, recommend reverse, steep wet gully easier to climb up.

Park at the barracks below Mokrine pass and on gravel road to Winkel hut. A little before the hut, left over stream to Pridola saddle. At the saddle, left on the western slightly more demanding ridge to the summit. The summit itself is a pure sugar-coated panorama that leaves us speechless. Hard to list all peaks the view reaches, just have to go up and enjoy all it offers. After long break, head east on ridge up to neighboring few meters lower Malvuerich basso which offers its charms too. Back a bit and continue descent on mule track where at saddle by some ruins we close loop around Malvuerich alta, then just descent to car and day complete.
