11.3.2023, "bike trip"
Beautiful bike trip in the hinterland of Marano Lagoon, best suited for gravel bikes. Started in Marano Lagunare, ancient fishing village, plenty of free parking in front of old part. Rode out of town and soon turned off main road. On gravel, tracks and meadows (bike signs, navigation recommended) continued to Ariis, through beautiful woods, more or less near Stella River. A bit along highway too, even if not. Ariis is a nice village with inn, ancient mill, fish farm, interesting bridge over Stella, kayak/canoe course on water. Place and Stella reminded me of Renče and Vipava. Returned on other roads, mostly gravel, by water channels past lonely farms, great time, beautiful really beautiful spots. Back to asphalt near Marano, soon bike on car roof, me to lunch. Lucky at second inn, nice day right lunch time caused crowds in all inns and spots in Marano, also gelateria next time. Beside Marano two nature reserves worth seeing, hinterland countless walks and bike paths, warmer months add sea swim.
