Monte Amarianute

Monte Amarianute is a 1083 m high peak in the immediate vicinity of the steep wall of the much higher Monte Amariane. It is a good viewpoint on Tolmezzo and a rewarding target for short days. Initially gentle path later steepens and gets us to the top in under two hours. The path is fully marked. Just before the summit the demanding Dalla Marta route to Monte Amariano quietly branches off.

The start of the path is near the motorway exit for Tolmezzo. Parking for two cars is right next to the first markers, a much larger one a few 100 m away, also right by the road.

Coordinates of the starting point ( Google map_Android ) … 46°23''26.0"N 13°02''32.2"E

Monte Amarianute The first marker for direction 462 is right next to the road.1
Monte Amarianute Days are getting shorter; at the end of August, mornings are already much later than a few weeks ago.2
Monte Amarianute At first we walk gently along the cart track to the marked junction into the forest.3
Monte Amarianute One must pay attention to the sharp right junction, which is well marked and signposted.4

Monte Amarianute To the right there is a viewpoint, but from the top one can see much farther.6
Monte Amarianute There are huge numbers of bare junipers, probably the result of a fire many years ago.7

Easter Sunday, year of our Lord 2022

After five years, this time without the princess, so solo, back to Amarianute. Same as first time up Martin and down Cjadin. Both paths are b.p., also similarly steep, quite a knee-grinder. At the starting point parking right at the beginning no longer possible, there's a big pile of sand dumped there, so leave the car by the road a bit further or back, depending on where you come from. I came through Tolmezzo, because the local road from Amaro is closed due to works. Weather favored me except wind at the very start of the trip, a bit cold sure, nothing worse, otherwise sunny, really lovely the whole dear day or whole trip time. About views I won't, my eye just misted up looking at my beloved Julian and Carnic peaks. The tour was also scouting nature, since you can continue to Amariane, from it among others descend to Forcella shelter, where I've also hiked. Sinfully good outing, even on holiday Sunday velik nasmeh

Really nice trip for short days, as described by bagi above.
Already the drive to the parking lot, which is a bit before Tolmezzo, is a wonderful experience. Through Canal Valley above the Bela River and further, along the whole road incredible beautiful views open up. Views to Naborje Mountains, Montaz, Pisimoni, Amariana, San Simeone, that's just some of the beautiful peaks along the road. So the drive passes quickly like a flash, even though you're on the road more than two hours. But worth itnasmeh.

We ascended the right path, returned via the left and that seemed right to us. First stop we made at the viewpoint specially marked and there we stood before the incredibly mighty view of Tolmezzo town and the Tilment river gravel beds, which winds upwards towards the Dolomites, downwards towards San Simeone mountain and in the morning Tilment was incredibly sparkling in the sun.
Towards the M.Amarianute summit we just stood before the fairy-tale view all around. Really takes your breath away when you admire the mighty pines, among which Tilment sparkles towards San Simeon on one side, straight ahead the face of the beautiful M.Amariane mountain, which doesn't hint that it actually doesn't even have 2000 meters altitude. Really beautiful!

On the way we met only two hikers, well we didn't miss more either. As usual after the trip we drove to the Bela river gravel beds, where we noted that the floods from last year shortened the shingle bank edge quite a bit, so you couldn't just simply step into the water. Had to make a little effortnasmeh.
