Probably few have heard of these two Cits, as well as the village of San Leopoldo in the Kanalska Valley. Nevertheless, I ended up on these summits too (Karnian wanderings bear part of the blame), which in themselves are nothing special, they don't even boast any decent height, and both are wooded. I park in the eastern part of the village under the motorway, plenty of space, and the path start is right there. Following the markers under the motorway, then I cross the bike path arranged on the old railway line and climb up the hill along the gully on the right. The first half hour is the rockiest on the whole path, I ascend among some dwarf pines, and even those have been attacked by pine processionary. Then follows a trail through very varied terrain, grasses too in between, among fallen and still standing storm-felled trees, wonderful views all around, interesting is also Šinauc (Monte Scinuaz), which I hope will come next, although no marked path to it. The markers have faded quite a bit, but the trail is easy to follow. So I reach M. Cit, since there's still time I continue in a slight descent, then up again, the path is quite good, but it's clear that very few walk here, so after a good half hour I reach the last Cit too, here the path goes down towards the Barizza saddle and on to Mokrine. Enough for me, I climb to point 1555 m, from where the view is somewhat better, then back to the marked path and slowly to the valley. Quite solitary, here and there I stumble upon remains of some trenches and small fortifications-observation posts. Otherwise today still completely dry and pleasantly warm.
