Monte Hoberdeirer (2206 m)

Ascent from S, W sides. Nice, genuine nature tour. Nice pool, waterfall,... Reminds me of a smaller version of Travnik Valley. Marked with red dots, generally no problem to follow. Short section with more brushwood, but no need to bushwhack through shrubs. Just below the summit one part where securing with cable is needed, really short part at B ferrata level.

Descent to E side towards bivouac is technically harder, otherwise just one or two sections that are very well secured with cable, see pictures, no iron for feet, hard traverse at D ferrata level. Then to bivouac path without special features, first part of descent around I grade, still need to be careful. No water problem here. Difficult sections short and secured at critical points.

Sappada village is 1200+ m a.s.l., so fairly high starting or ending point.

Mountain is HoberdeiRer not Hoberdeier, so title missing one "R" wink

Saturday 9.9.2023

What I suggested last fall, we did end of summer this year. Rain and snow higher up spoiled it last year, in a way rightly so, as you can't have a nicer day than today.

Parked at free parking lot next to small chapel, benches and tables there too, also free, and walked to Ziegelhutte pond, behind which we took footpath. Along it to bivouac Damiano dell Gobbo, there rest and views, then under summit part where we geared up. I had been here, not best conditions and probably bit worse day, so mountain didn't want then, this time with gear "just in case" went easy. At top martinčkanje and "anchoring the soul", no thirst either. Descent other side to path to Passo Oberenghe saddle. To junction with path past wonderful waterfall with no less beautiful pool below. Up and down no one anywhere, weather divine, conditions excellent. Great tour, shorter demanding part we had on ascent, excellently secured smile

P.S.
Who hasn't been here can detour on ascent to Passo dell'Arco saddle, wonderful natural rock arch and nice chapel in memory of perished in mountains. From saddle descend to bivouac and from there to top. Worth effort, really nice wink
