Monte Misone

Monte Misone is a 1803 m high peak above the smaller lake Lago di Tenno near Lake Garda. This is the only lake in the area that doesn't have its shore built up with tourist facilities.

Since we did a circular route we chose the lowest starting point in the village of Ville del Monte. From the parking lot a marked path 406 leads through a beautiful, ancient part of the village, called Borgo di Canale. Among the arches of old houses there is also the first path junction. The most direct to Monte Misone is the right variant 406B, via the left 406A we returned at the end of the circular route. Continuing we first walked on a rough cart track which soon turned into a pleasant forest path. This brought us to the highest starting point for Monte Misone, where a few dozen cars can park.

From the parking lot onwards we followed markings 406 on a beautiful, gentle trail that lifted us to the saddle Sella di Castiol. From there onwards it flattens and so it is all the way to the pasture Malga di Tenno, where there is a path junction. For Monte Misone we turned right uphill just before the shepherd's hut. The summit is a viewpoint and in good weather you can see far around.

We descended the same path all the way to Casa Bastiani. Since we wanted to do a circular route and return along the lake shore, we turned right here onto the transverse gravel road to Lago di Tenno (mark 406A, it's not on the map). This first led us far right and later turned left again at marked junctions. Along the way it turned into a forest path and lower down again into gravel. In between we also checked out the climbing crag Sanderland, where they have interestingly arranged access to the walls. When we reached the shore of lake Tenno the return to the morning starting point was easy. We stuck to the shore and through the old part of Borgo di Canale concluded this exploration nasmeh
