This mountain was recommended to us by the Padova hut keeper when we stayed there last year with my girlfriend, later I read an article in PV. So yesterday my colleague and I drove towards the Dolomites and for a warm-up climbed this wonderful viewpoint. Go to Domegge di Cadore in Piave valley, from there by steep and narrow road to Cercena hut. Further a nice trail leads, first through forest, then only bushes and larches slowly turning yellow. Soon we reached a beautiful plain where two bivouacs stand, one small old with 4 bunks always open, and the other larger locked. Mrs Gabriella and Klaus who happened to be there said it's private, for the real ones the key can be got in the valley too. Well we stopped a bit, as the place is more than pleasant for rest, then continued to the top, last part more marked pathless (red dots and cairns) than trail. All the time magnificent views of great Dolomite mountains, and also Karnic or Friulian Dolomites accompanied us. Already on ascent we noticed trail over scree under Cima di Sacceido and indeed found sign for Padova hut below. Right away we climbed to forc. Crodalonga and descended old marked gully towards Val Pra di Toro valley, stopped at friendly Padova hut, drank beer and went to Cercena hut for car and new adventures. Actually we drove towards Cortina or to Zoppe di Cadore village over Cibiana pass (start for Monte Rite and Messner museum) and in dusk arrived at Venezia hut under Monte Pelmo, where we overnighted in comfortable winter bivouac.
