Monte Stigolo

Monte Stigolo is a 1584 m high peak not far from Lago di Ledro lake. The starting point is about half an hour's drive away from Lake Garda. There are two accesses to it and they can be nicely combined into a circular variant. We returned the same way despite different plans due to bad weather. Parking is available in front of Agritur al Marter guesthouse, where there are also the first markings for path 458. The parking is private, but they don't fuss. You can repay them by ordering a coffee or something else on the way back nasmeh.

The markings led us unerringly all the way to Sella di Laretto saddle. At first we walked on an asphalt road, which soon turned to gravel and later into a comfortable forest path. At the saddle is the last official marking for Monte Stigolo and here we turned left onto the ridge. The path is no longer so nice, but it is trodden and traceable. The summit is newly cut and cleared and we didn't lack views. This peak was also part of WW1 positions like most viewpoints in the nearby and distant surroundings.

Due to the weather we returned along the access path, the intention was to continue from Sella di Laretto saddle over the peaks in the adjacent ridge all the way to the next saddle Passo di Rango. From there we would return to the starting point along the path with the same marking 458 behind the ridge. Some other time nasmeh.

Some useful data:

Starting point: a bit further from Tiarno di Sopra .... 45°52"32.4"N / 10°39"27.6"E (Google Maps_Android)
Path length: 16 km / Ascent along the path: 1100 m
Duration: 5.30 hours
