First we planned to go to Resia, but since the weather didn't look best there we extended to Val Pesarina. Already at the start of the valley we turned into the village Sostasio, then drove on a narrow mountain road all the way to the Talm hut at 1100 m. Continued on the trail, higher up reached the road again and then turned right onto a nicely marked mulatiera that took us to the top of a very nice viewpoint over the Pesarina valley. After a short stop at the top we turned west along the mountain ridge, marked path 226a was of course still snowy at that time, but it held well, so almost no postholing. After good 40 minutes we reached the Diana hunting hut and in less than 10 minutes to the junction. There we turned to the south side and in good hour and a half with intermediate stops returned to the starting point.

Thanks, indeed fewer descriptions here, otherwise still touring on skis, so descriptions are there.

Over seven years ago we climbed it for the first time and it seemed time for a revisit. Then we drove to the hut, this time we took the path from the valley in Pric, to which we drove on a narrow and steep road from Prato Carnico. At the larger parking above Pric there are neither signs nor markers, need to continue on the road and a few bends higher take the path coming from Prato (CAI 226). On it we ascended to Rifugio Monte Talm hut and from there continued to Sella di Talm saddle. About 100m below the saddle we reached compacted snow cover, hard and icy. Soon after the hunting hut I lost the track, then also the markers (CAI 226a) on trees, so towards the top I continued with phone navigation help. Since I "forgot" winter gear at home, we were with the princess very careful, as slopes were like ice rink in places. Avoiding sinkholes and fallen trees we pushed through to a narrow and partly exposed ridge, continued on it below the top and there hit a marked path, on which we soon reached Monte Talm summit. Wonderful weather, stunningly beautiful views, solitude, silence... Heaven on earth, I said to the princess who wisely stayed quiet and also enjoyed the beautiful day. We descended the sunny side, there too the path above was snowy and icy. Above the hut we used the last sun rays for pleasant martinčkanje, then it wasn't far to the car anymore. When I last looked back at the surrounding peaks, I remembered Menart and the end of his poem "Vzpon": "... and happiness is that there's a path before me, and that I know that the pleasure is in this, that I go.” nasmeh

After a beautiful sunny day in 2012 and no less nice in 2020, today I had stubborn fog and no views. Probably because I was alone, without the princess, back then we had a doggone good time. This time it was piggishly wet, air saturated with moisture. But the trip still excellent, "Carnic energy" does wonders even in less friendly weather. At the top I closed my eyes and recalled views from memory, works pretty well, then descended, what would I do up there longer in such. Snow under the top enough that where it's icy need to watch steps, no gear needed, below Rifugio Talm some fallen trees where you have to crawl and climb, but short section where cairns help at fork. On descent decided that's it for Talm, at car from passing girl learned there's a recently opened path on the other side also worth it. So Talm will happen again, "from behind", probably next spring. nasmeh
