Beautiful, what beautiful, wonderful sunny day it was when we drove up to Sella di Razzo 1760 m high. Snow isn't excessive here either, but since I know the area I was sure I'd find a good variant. When we geared up we went a couple of hundred meters to the start of marked path 208. The touring route actually runs east of Col Marende, but there it looked windblown. We immediately found an old track and windblown ski traces. Dry snow there is about 70 cm, but without base. As much as possible we used the old track, we went a lot on our own way too, mostly within the marked path, some detours to avoid the steep part. Higher we headed towards the notch Forcella Rossa. Dry, blown-in snow, soft and hard crust. The last part we tried on foot, thinking it'd be easier, but it wasn't and we had to go back to skis and zigzag the gully. The valley below Tiarfin was quite windblown, as I expected, since there was a nice breeze from the west on our arrival. Somehow we pushed through hard snow to the saddle from where there was a nice view down to Upper Peči (Forni di Sopra). In the sun and lee we admired the wide palette of Carnic mountains, which here at least in naming intertwine with the Dolomites. Actually the view was splendid, as it is here, since you can see all the way to the Julian Alps and Dolomite giants. After some martinis we headed to the nearby hill, prepared for skiing and skied down. About 40 minutes to the car, in between all sorts of snow, lots of dry too, and some "mine" found in the snow, but that's part of ski touring anyway. In rif. Tenente del Fabro over a beer we concluded that in the given conditions the tour wasn't bad at all, the ambience is fascinating anyway.
