About Verzegnis not much is written. I wouldn't even know about it if Jože and Lojze hadn't told how they rescued a sheep that fell into a large water trough on the pasture below the summit years ago, and how it then followed them with its gaze for a long time. I'd say that's how it showed them gratitude . So yesterday we drove towards Tolmezzo and a bit higher to Chianzutan pass, which was our starting point. Along a pleasant path through forest and over two pastures we reached the ridge and saddle connecting Verzegnis and neighboring Monte Cormolino. This ridge offered us more than expected, as besides beautiful view to Dolomites and Carnics we spotted a flock of griffon vultures gliding, creating beautiful show for eyes and heart. And the show continued on the summit itself. Really unforgettable! Small grassy summit offers really a lot. Boundless views, Carnic Alps, Dolomites, Julians, Friulian plain, High Tauern. On the summit we missed nothing, everything was on the palm of our hand, all perfect. Even one visitor came by other path, but then we were practically leaving. On return we stopped at Lago di Verzegnis, which offers view to Amariano, which for me yesterday was the main star of the view also from summit.

Nice, great pics of hawks and others-as usual . I think the tunnel and all cableway remains are from the quarry.

Verzegnis this time a bit different than over a decade ago. At the first pasture above Cianzutan pass we turned left onto the green-signed path-sentiero Agarat. It then became the ridge path-sentiero delle creste at the plateau edge. To the summit up the east ridge under watchful eyes of three pairs of flying height lords. Then along scenic ridge up-down to quarry and classic descent through small tunnel. Great day in abnormally nice weather for the season with unlimited views. Interesting no snow even on higher Karnia hills.
