I found the idea for the hike here: http://www.kibuba.com/kks/?content=3&project_id=12&unit_id=269#unit269 I expected a bit more sun, but at Mokrine snow was falling. I parked on the Italian side too, right behind the Sella Forcello hotel, where the road starts as well. I equipped myself with touring gear, then along the snowy road past Auernig pasture, under For pasture, near Monte Cerchio the road ends and turns into a nice wide mulattiera, then some ascent follows. The area there reminds me of the landslide on Stožje, a similar slide happened here too when it carried away a good part of the slope below. Then short descent to abandoned Cerchio pasture, then a bit up, a bit down and finally mostly quite a long descent to Biffil pasture. On the pasture, which is abandoned too, I find open doors, actually it's a bivouac without bunks or one part is locked and inaccessible. In a pinch one could bivouac a night, there's a wood stove inside too. I look around the pasture, on the NE edge I notice a forestry hut, I go a bit further, of course the northern slopes of Šinauc interest me. Since a long way back awaits me I don't hang around much and already slide back up on skis. On return I check some private hut above Cerchio pasture, I stop at For pasture too. When returning to Mokrine the sun already sets behind the saddle between Mali vrh (M. Malvueric) and Konjski špik (Monte Cavallo). Why someone makes such a long trip and skis nothing, nor removes the skis is actually a philosophical question. Anyway, it was beautiful and someday this needs to be repeated. Definitely it would be wonderful trekking in the dry too, they have even marked a Nordic walking trail, not to mention MTB.
