We had our starting point at the camp in Piancavallo. Up the abandoned ski slope to the top and there we stepped onto the trail, by which we reached Casere Caseratte. Continued to Forcelle di Giais and from there up the steep path to Pala Fontana. Along the ridge turning into a wide ridge we continued to the far visible Monte Ciastelat. Short part just after Pala Fontana is exposed, so there is a chain there, and just below the Ciastelat summit there is a narrow ledge requiring a careful step, otherwise the whole path is easy. In the best conditions views reach to Venice and from the Dolomites to the Julian Alps, we had a bit worse, so we didn't see the sea. The round tour lasted under six hours, in length we covered about fifteen kilometers and almost seven hundred meters in ascent. Extremely pleasant outing, I recommend
