Piccolo Siera (2430 m)

On Sunday, 25 July, Marjeta and I set out for Piccolo Siera, which we had already eyed during last year's ascent to its nearby neighbour Velika Siera. From hamlet Culzei in Pesarina valley along the road closed to public traffic to Siera pasture and along unmarked little path below Siere. If necessary on the big one to climb II in many places, here we mostly walked with poles, only the summit part needs to be climbed good I but no more than 50 metres. View of course splendid, as on all these mountains we visit. We descended the same way.

Gorgeous tour to Piccolo Siera starting and ending in Cima Sappada. At the start some trouble finding the path, then apart from wetness nothing but joy all the way up and down. Wild, lonely world, bit of scrambling crossing gullies and just below summit nicely livens up the ascent. Since I missed the views from top, looking forward to them in autumn from Monte Siere wink
Warmly recommend this tour to all used to more demanding (almost) pathless terrain smile

Friday, 5.8.2022 (main and SE summit)

Insanely beautiful, wild, solitary. On way up met only viper, grateful to have someone to greet and exchange words. Started and ended in Sappada, at Piazzale degli asini, ascent via casera Siera to namesake pass. Path to notch between main and SE summit nicely walkable, little meadow just before notch seemed more eroded than four years ago. To main summit bit of scramble, nothing hard, cairn at gully start, I kept right. Feeling during break on SE summit divine, panorama stunningly beautiful, provisions rich and tasty. Hard to head down, not first time so. On return met couple on pasture exactly where I planned to rest, so did it lower with goats who didn't mind. From pass to car path dragged a bit, but managed somehow. Wonderful outing, for days almost overwhelmed by all beauty nasmeh
