From Italy over the Plöcken pass to Austria to the winter-closed Plöckenhaus inn. From there on skis past the artificial Green Lake, which is under ice and snow at this time, and further across meadows into the left, forest-covered slopes along the marked path to the upper Spielboden Alm pasture. There a short break, then on into the snowy and long southern slopes of Polinik. We spot old avalanches and guess where the accident of the Italian ski tourers happened on Saturday. As it turned out later right on that avalanche. Towards the top we remove skis, because that kind of walking is safer, also otherwise due to frozen snow we used crampons the whole time. At the top clear sky and sun greet us, which doesn't last long though, so skiing in the upper part is somewhat worse due to poor visibility, central part is really enjoyable, lower down real slush. The tour is safe in these conditions, have to count on steep slopes dangerous for slipping, otherwise Polinik is one of the nicer viewpoints above the Gail Valley.

Without skis or snowshoes walking is especially in the forest very strenuous due to sinking.

Path from Plöckenhaus without peculiarities. Summit excellent viewpoint, but today weather due to fog and clouds didn't allow it.
