There are two Poliniks: one in the Carnic Alps and one in the High Tauern (also described on this portal). I went to the latter too, and on the way back I went over Ebeneck as well (thanks to lynx and atoamac for the description). The path has no particular features. Fitness-wise it doesn't seem particularly demanding either. From the barrier (see description) it's about an hour and a half to Polinik-Hütte then another two and a half hours to the summit. Total about 4 hours (5 hours in the description is a bit exaggerated). Below the summit there are some fixed ropes, but except for the very last one (and even that maybe more on descent) they shouldn't trouble someone who's occasionally grabbed onto something metal. But again (as often with Austrians) they're routed for self-belaying (and then perhaps experimenting with free climbing). The weather was nice so lots was visible: northwards of course Grossglockner, other side of the valley the entire Ankogel group, and Reisseck. Kamnik Alps and Karawanks weren't visible, but the Julians as far as the clouds to the south allowed. Triglav wasn't, but Mangart, Viš, Montaž, Kanin,... Then southwestwards Carnics, westwards clear view of the upper Drau valley and Dolomites, not just Lienz ones but in my opinion right into their South Tyrolean and Venetian core. On the way back detour to Ebeneck (15 min off path) then direct to Polinik-Hütte via unmarked path. Maybe due to steepness this path is better uphill (if you'd known it before and not noticed it only at Ebeneck). From below starts right behind the hut, past the water intake and in 45 min to Ebeneck, from there marked path to junction and on to Polinik per description, back then at junction don't turn back to Ebeneck but continue marked path per description back to hut to make a loop. Beer in the hut and home. Another nice trip to the kingdom of scree!
