Punta Fiames via Strobel via ferrata

Punta Fiames belongs to the smaller mountain group Pomagagnon near Cortina d’Ampezzo, and the interesting via ferrata Albino Strobel leads to it. It is characterized by ascent on steep rock steps, where you really feel the weight of the vertical walls above you. The via ferrata is quite shady and proceeds in a serious atmosphere. Where possible, the route is laid along natural passages, in more serious situations with the help of metal aids. Difficulties revolve around B/C category, and the exit from the via ferrata is just a little aside from the highest point, Punta Fiámes. We parked at the larger parking lot by the sports park and walked along the main road to the Fiámes hotel. Behind it, signs invite us right into the forest. The wide forest path misled us and we quickly got lost, we didn't notice the correct but less visible left turn-off at first . There followed some ascent on a cluttered path all the way to the via ferrata entrance. As usual, due to the early hour we were completely alone, which suited us perfectly . It's hard to describe the route's course, much nicer to traverse it . Right away some traverses over walls follow, there are also some free traverses over ledges. Protection was sufficient, the most attractive is a good 10 m high ladder. It helps with crossing the steep step and has a parallel safety cable. After it, more traverses and ascents follow and soon we were at the not very spacious summit of Punta Fiámes. The return to the valley was a story of its own and we won't repeat it. Descent from the summit to the Forcella del Pomagagnon saddle was still easy, then descent to the valley over collapsed scree followed. Here officially path 202 runs, but in practice it no longer exists. Two thirds of the scree nature has eroded to a hard base, carved incredibly deep furrows and with utmost caution we needed almost an hour for an extremely uncomfortable descent. The steepness on site is concrete, base like concrete sprinkled with small pebbles. Furrows are up to 5 m high and impassable. We followed rare footprints and sought the best entrances, mostly on the edge of the slip. We've seen such scree conditions this year in many places, but never walked on one to such extent. We had planned the nearby Zumeles via ferrata, but we simply didn't feel like it anymore. We descended to the valley via the left branch of path 218, because the right one was buried, same fate befell the continuation of path 202. After some gentle traverse to the left we soon joined the cycle path marked 211. It first took us to the main road, from there we had a few hundred meters to the starting point. Coordinates of the starting point (Fiámes sports park): 46.5722192N, 12.1175064E

Congratulations. Is Monte Pelmo in the background of picture no. 24?

Yes, Monte Pelmo is in the background, and right between them is Cortina d'Ampezzo.
