Somewhere in the middle of the night, Rok and I set off to Austria, more precisely to the place of Heiligenblut, and from there ascended to the small village of Oberschachnern, where we parked the car and started the ascent. There were no markers or direction signs, no tracks either, so we went by feel. Of course that feel was completely off, and we just got a bit lost a few times. When we finally got above the forest line, we spotted the forepeak of Sandkopf, and only here it became clear to us that there was still a very long way to the top ahead. Willpower was getting less and less, energy wasn't much left, but despite all we persisted, and after a few hours we finally arrived at the summit slope of Sandkopf. Since from here on everything was bare due to strong wind a few days ago, we headed to the top on foot. I got a new boost, new hope. After less than half an hour more walking we finally spotted the summit of the 3090 m high Sandkopf. Here it became clear that we would make it. Views were fantastic in all directions, Austria's highest peak - Grossglockner and other surrounding peaks were wonderfully visible. Soon we descended to the place where we left the skis, and dashed toward the valley. From the top soft crust, soon wonderful powder, skiing one A.
