Mountain of unusual appearance, monolithic mountain. Tectonics here turned the rock layers straight upwards, creating an attractive, not very Dolomitic summit. A huge gray slab dominates, at first glance from one piece. Along its ridge runs a very interesting approach, ferrata Sasso delle Nove. We caught the summit on radar last year, this year it fell into the *Must* category . We chose the starting point in the Wengen valley, precisely in Spescia dessura. Above the village there is arranged parking for 10 cars, others park more on the black. Accordingly, there are tow-away signs everywhere. More realistically, some farmer out of justified anger parks you in with a tractor . Anyway, early in the morning we were the first there. We continued through the beautiful Val di Fanes valley. From here the peaks are the highest and most serious. We followed the well-maintained paths 13A and 13 all the way to the valley head, where we ascended gentle serpentines to the Ju de Sant Antone saddle. Right next to it stands a small wooden shrine dedicated to St. Anthony. In case of sudden weather worsening, it can serve as shelter, and St. Anthony protects you. We turned right towards the signs for our summit. For a while we followed rare red dots, even more cairns. We haven't seen so many for a long time, especially not in the Dolomites. We then crossed to grassy plateaus leading to the nicest part of the approach, the sharply positioned ridge. The traverse along the cables is pure pleasure with not quite usual ferrata feelings. Air right, air left, few such passages. No special problems, all excellently arranged. After the end of the ledge we tackled some poorly marked rock to the summit and soon stood on the proud mountain. The route for gravel descent is only one, so we returned to the saddle the same way. Luckily, the weather did not follow the forecast and we treated ourselves to the St. Anthony mountain on the opposite side of the saddle. It is an easily accessible viewpoint, for understandable reasons much more visited than the higher neighbor. Then the return down the Val di Fanes valley to the full parking lot and satisfied we sped off to our lodging. I recommend it, more in the photo story ... Coordinates of the starting point ( Spescia Dessura ) : 46.649197, 11.957269
