Seekofel is the central peak of the Braies Dolomites above the world-famous Braies Lake. We've been putting off this area for a few years, probably because of the greener appearance, extensive pastures and rounded peaks. It all somehow didn't seem *dolomitic* to us. Only this year did we realize the injustice we were doing to this range. We're a bit ashamed big grin

We parked at public parking P3 right next to the hotel. Right next to it is parking P4, which is private. The difference between them is huge ... we paid 7€/day, the neighbors 25€/day for practically the same spot. P3 can be reserved online, even better is an early hour smile

.

After a morning tour of the lake shore we headed towards Malga Foresta and from there to the saddle Forcela de Riciogogn. There we finally stepped into the sun and warmed up with the view of the wonderful landscape and great path ahead smile

. Followed a longer traverse towards Rifugio Biella, then ascent to Seekofel. The summit is an excellent viewpoint, access to it is nothing particularly demanding. With countless paths in the upper part it's a grateful goal for many hikers.

From the summit we descended part of the path the same way, then at saddle Forcella Sora Forno turned left into the valley. The path is well marked and trodden, here also runs the Dolomites Alta Via 1. After a long descent we reached the lake shore where quite a few visitors were still sunning themselves. For the return to the start we chose the right shore under the vertical walls. It has a much more varied course than the one on the opposite side of the lake. Nice, it reminds me a few years back when we also conquered this summit. We really didn't have such luck with the weather, as in early August on the way we experienced a thunderstorm too. Then the weather clears up in a short time and offers beautiful views.
I wish you lots more mountain pleasures.
The lake is beautiful. They filmed a famous series here, and I think the title is Mountain Rescuer.
