On Saturday 22.8. we continued with the cable car from Passo Tonale to Passo del Paradiso, which is nothing but an intermediate station of the cable car system. Our trail (44) climbs from here to the right to Passo del Castelaccio 2963m, where the secured path begins. Obviously remnants of a military path and positions, as the Italian army tried to break through to Trentino over Passo Tonale. The path is not demanding, but consistently interesting; it crosses two long suspension bridges and reaches the highest point at 3166m on Corno di Lago Scuro summit. Descent past the shelter to Passo di Lago Scuro saddle and re-ascent to Cima Payer 3056m from where there were fantastic views of Adamello and Presanello. Follows descent back to the saddle and traverse to Presena pass, from where you must go down by cable car, as the glacier is entirely covered with felt and walking there is unfortunately prohibited.
