This two-thousander of the Sexten Dolomites is actually the house mountain of the fourth hut on the Path of the Six Huts - that's the Rifugio Pian di Cengia hut - 2528 m. To here from Gorenjska is a very long drive. Almost four hours we'll need from Železniki, where the start was with the bus. We have the option of two approaches. The much nicer path is from the Rifugio Auronzo hut - 2333 m. We drive here on the toll mountain road - of course at the end of the ascent. For the road we paid 120 euros - for the bus, of course - for personal cars and vans it's less. We arrive at huge parking lots under the hut, where there are separate parking areas for buses, campers and personal vehicles. Vehicles are directed even by a parking traffic controller. We also have a second option from the other end near the sixth hut of this path - Fondo Valle - 1548 m. Just 100 m lower in elevation is a huge tourist settlement with many hotels and other tourist infrastructure - Piano Fiscalino - 1454 m. There we park for free.

So from the Pian di Cengia hut the marked path leads us to the panoramic summit high 2675 m. At the summit there's a nice cross and even a box with a summit logbook - no stamp. In half an hour we are from the hut to the mountain top. Nearby is a neighboring slightly higher summit also with a cross, but to it it's a bit hard to climb - but possible. On the mountain itself, as I mentioned, a nice path runs and it passes by ruins of WWI objects. It even leads along a military defensive trench. Here the Austro-Hungarian army had its positions. At the top with nice weather there is a magnificent view far around. On the left side deep below can be seen the fifth hut of this path - Comici - 2224 m.

When we were there at the beginning of April the parking at Piano Fiscalino was still paid, free was the parking 2 km lower in Moos at the cable car lower station to Croda Rossa. Where exactly did you park? And one more thing, on 26th picture there are hikers descending through caves and trenches from the side ridge of Collerena summit - variant of path 107, very interesting extension of ferrata Severino Casara. Nice tour, surely you enjoyed!nasmeh
