Sissanis Saddle - Passo Sissanis

It's been a long time since I was in the Carnic Alps, so it was high time to visit them again. With Rafko we drive to Forni Avoltri along the Degano valley and then to the quarry, where we leave the car. There's not exactly an abundance of snow at the starting point, but still it's possible to ski from the car. We ascend along the road to the intake of the famous Carnic water Goccia, (http://www.acqua2o.it/labelitalia/gocciadicarnia/gocciadicarnia.htm)
Just behind the intake we turn right towards the abandoned Sissanis pasture. There the sheepfolds are already proper winter ones, snow is almost 1 m, hard base with a few cm of powder. The famous mountains around greet us as we ascend towards the upper abandoned pasture and the valley along the Sessanis stream further on. With nice views we're soon at the saddle. Rafko turns left up under peak 2042, I descend a bit and go on to the border saddle Passo Val di Interno-Lahnerjoch, then I join him under the aforementioned peak. Since a snow shower was approaching from the west we didn't stay up there long and skied back down. If there had been a bit more powder it would have been excellent, but it was very good anyway. Well down below you have to somehow skid along the road to the quarry, but that works too.
