This time the path to Tyrol in the Ötztal valley led me through Spittal, Zell am See, Kitzbühel, Innsbruck, Oetz, Sölden, where after 500 km and 8 h I arrived in the village of Vent, at the end of the Venttal valley. Before entering Ötztal, there was a motorcycle accident (rescue by helicopter), construction of road galleries before avalanches, so some delay. In Sölden about 1300 people live, higher also called Hoch Sölden 2090 m with just a few hotels, ski slopes over 300 km with 70 ski lifts reaching height 3440 m - Hinterer Brunnenkogel or Wildspitze Bahn. Up there huge areas of eternal ice and snow. The village Sölden is stretched along the valley hayfields and is very tidy, modern and high-level tourism, friendliness. Before Sölden you can also see the sight of the ancient Ötzi village - Ötzi Dorf. Further the road climbs to upper level, where it splits left to Gurgler Tal and right to Venter Tal, where I was heading. From Sölden to Vent after 18 km brings us the famous road that crosses some mountain villages and takes us through tunnels and galleries into the heart of Ötztal Alps. We are at 1900 m village Vent, which has around 130 souls with quite a few nice hotels and more private tourist houses. They also have their own local cable car with ski slope ending 2650 m high. Water tributaries here originate under glaciers of mighty peaks and unite in the village into wild river Venter Ache and further into Ötzaler Ache. The area around Vent is known for archaeological finds and quartz stones, which we can admire displayed above the village. At this place they found remains of ancient inhabitants of Ötzi. The sites are in form of some rocks, where hunters prepared arrows for hunting and sat. Now these places are covered with similar wooden shingle roofs of single-pitch houses as they were once. Oldest found spears date 6000-8000 years before life of Christ. Later Tyroleans united in mighty farms, roofs of which are adorned with mighty crosses (sign for good farm, where newcomer was served food in God's name). In that time around 15th century farmers and officials were of fully equal rights, army was composed mostly of Tyrolean farmers. Each village had its own outfit - gvant, so at assembly they exactly knew from which village people come. Characteristic for this valley is also sheep grazing, which reaches 6000 years back and is traditionally the same to this day. After 15 May shepherds drive sheep with herding dogs from Schnalstal in South Tyrol over 3000 m high pass to North Tyrol. There they stay until mid September, when they return them back to Italy. Vent is a village with typical mountain summer and winter tourism with huge long tours in Ötztal Alps. Huts for ski touring open mid March and close beginning of May and are mostly at altitudes of our Triglav or higher. Ascent to Wildspitze, highest peak of Tyrol is from here like on the palm of one's hand. Tyroleans are honest people who don't like too much foreign influence, similar to Swiss. Nowadays they don't trust banks too much either, so real estate world turns well there. In Innsbruck don't expect real estate under 4000 €/m², because the city itself is famous for excellent sports offer, as also city of arts, in short spiritually diverse rich city with quality living, where even world eminences move there. Most of all above Vent a younger Tyrolean shepherd impressed in my memory: Tall guy with black hair and eyes, gaze but strong, cheerful, heartfelt and simple. Discover numerous waterfalls, mountain paths, countless pastures, cycling paths, climbing paths, glaciers, high peaks. All this is Tyrol and much more . In continuation follows ascent to Fineilspitze.
