After the military ferrata Furcia Rossa

At the beginning of our Dolomites exploration, a very special adventure imprinted itself in our memory. Instead of a short tour on the last day of vacation, a great tour to Piz Ciaval arose ( Click ). Already then I noticed the ridge connection via the military ferrata Furcia Rossa on the map, running from bivouac Della Pace all the way to the end of the ridge. It bounds the deep valley Val Travenanzes at the foot of the Tofane and right at the end is the beautiful peak Vallon Bianco.

We wanted to continue the ridge from where we ended it years ago. The best start for us was from Capane Alpine, from where via paths 11 and 17 we quickly reached Monte Castella and bivouac Della Pace below it. We checked its condition and rushed towards new adventures smile.

Continuing on the military path initially aroused mixed feelings. First a descent followed, then a long, non-strenuous ascent on cluttered slopes. Almost no official markers, just the FR mark appears every now and then. After a good kilometer, things change. The path shoots upwards and quickly justifies the ferrata name. After endless ladders we climbed high above the surroundings.

Further on, sections without protections and those with protections constantly follow, without which progress wouldn't be possible. Actually, the whole path is an old military link where they connected the ridge as best they could for their needs. In between we visited the peak Piz Forcia Rossa III, just 5 minutes away, an excellent viewpoint and thus of course interesting for the military.

There the first VB marks for Vallon Bianco appear. It's still far to it, but the path continues in the same style. The terrain gets increasingly difficult, so more and more protections. Cables and pegs are impeccable and plentiful everywhere. After an hour and a half we reached the intersection of the valley path with ours and headed up to the final goal.

The path to Vallon Bianco is, in short, fantastic biggrin. Such an ingeniously laid mule track is rarely seen. Comfortable and non-strenuous path reliably leads through the wild world of rocks, endless steep slopes and wonderful views. The path was renovated for the WWI anniversary and is suitable for almost anyone. Accordingly, there were many visitors. The summit area is full of military remains, as this peak has a central position above several valleys. The view is endless, especially a completely different view of Val Travenanzes stands out. I warmly recommend visiting Vallon Bianco, as besides ours there are other closer starting points.

From the top we descended the approach direction, as there's no other path. We didn't return via ferrata Furcia Rossa, but continued straight and circularly joined the morning path via another valley. Then followed the return to Capane Alpine on the known path. Bottom line, the path gave us much more than expected smile.

Didn't you detour to bivouac Bacon - Braborka on ascent to Vallon Binaco?

@bbugari1 ... nice regards smile. Bivouac Bacon - Braborka is tucked to the right off the path to Vallon Bianco and specially marked as such. If I remember correctly, it's 1 hour to it. Since I didn't find any connection from Braborka to Vallon Banco on maps, we didn't bother much with it. Even without it, our variant took more than 10 hours and would simply take too much time.
