In Berchtesgaden I turn onto the Rossfeld panoramic road. Shortly after paying the toll I reach Ofnerboden where I park. I continue on foot on the asphalt road for under 15 min to Enzianhutte hut (closed). There I turn right onto gravel road and follow it through forest to Eckersattel saddle. There are two options to Purtschellerhaus hut: German and Salzburg. First is one wooden staircase, don't recommend. From car to hut 1.5 hours. Overnight in hut and next morning continue to summit. First over grass to wall, then right along walls and easier climbing to side ridge, bit of descent, choose chimney and up it to main ridge. Could go Salzburg path right, think not much easier. To here not too demanding and pleasant climbing. Ridge part to top drags, some easier climbing in between. Great view from top. Descend ascent route then turn left over scree in gullies to sheer walls. There secured path to Kehlstein starts. Lots of vertical descents and ascents, descents over cluttered terrain, even two underpasses and nice walk among boulders at end. This part one grade harder than summit approach from Purtschellerhaus hut. Demanding part about 1 hour. From hut to Kehlstein with rest on top 6 hours. From Kehlsteinhaus descend asphalt path to bus stop, then asphalt road (closed to traffic) to Ofnerboden. Path very scenic, among larches full of hairpins. When slope flattens road to gravel, larches to mighty spruces. Pleasant walk to car. From Kehlsteinhaus to Ofnerboden 1.5 to 2 hours.
