Highest peak of Macedonia - Anyone coming along?

In September I plan to conquer the highest peak in Macedonia. It's called Golem Korab and is 2,764 m high (100 m less than Triglav). In addition, I'll probably go to Titov Vrh, which is the second highest peak in Macedonia. One day probably Ohrid and home. I have friends from the Kumanovo Mountaineering Association and with their help there won't be a problem. They are going with me to Triglav in August. If anyone wants to go to Macedonia with me, let me know.

I created an email address for contact regarding the organization of the hike to the highest peak in Macedonia. na_vrhu@yahoo.com Write basic questions on this forum so others can see the answers too. Email is only for more concrete arrangements with those really interested in the hike.

Interesting thing, I'd go too. How many days do you plan for everything and how do you imagine the transport? (THIS IS A QUESTION I GOT ON MY EMAIL) ANSWER: Would go at least for three days (one day Golem Korab, one day Titov Vrv and one day Ohrid), since less doesn't pay off, as we'll travel 24 hours each way. Could be a day more. Everything is a matter of agreement. Transport? Depends on the number of people. If only four, one car. If more, maybe two cars or a van. If even more, maybe best to take a small bus. Transport depends a lot on who goes with us. It could happen that a mountaineer joins us who owns a small bus and offers it :-) Just positive guessing. I think I've shown plastically enough that the thing is quite flexible. There's still plenty of time for organization, so now I'm just in the initial phase. Suggestions welcome.

When do you plan to go to Macedonia? (THIS IS A QUESTION I GOT ON MY EMAIL) ANSWER: In September, most likely mid-September. When everyone has finished vacations. Otherwise it's also a matter of agreement and coordination among registrants.

Now you have a third one too. Can you find out what the paths are like, climbing, protection?

Hi; I'm interested if the thing is still current or if you're already formed and set a date and such? This year I plan to go to Macedonia for 10 days anyway, so I'm interested. Best regards

Here, the departure date for Golem Korab is set. We're going for the weekend of 11. and 12. September. We'll probably go on Thursday to avoid the traffic jam on the road. Still looking for interested folks to join us. Write to na_vrhu@yahoo.com
