Hike to the highest Hungarian peaks

On 27.09. we set off from Varaždin. The aim was to conquer the three highest Hungarian peaks.
First we conquered the highest Kekestető via the green trail from the village Matrafüred. Since we were in running shape we got to the top exceptionally fast. Along this trail is also the second highest Hungarian peak, the indistinct rock Pezső-Kő which we crossed. At the top we lingered a bit for refreshments, since the view wasn't far we descended right back, this time via the blue cross trail.

On 28.09. the peak Galyatető came next, which is known as the second highest, but is actually third. The ascent from the town Paradsasvar was a pleasant surprise because the trail is quite tough, steep and demanding. After the demanding part we were rewarded with exceptional views to the north. At the top refreshments and snack. Unfortunately the viewpoint isn't ready yet - as the forest overgrows visibly there will be quite an exceptional view from it in all directions. But that's in some future. Quick descent down and back.

With me were friends Cviko, Jež and Krešo.

The three highest Hungarian peaks aren't anything too demanding, but it's definitely nice to conquer them. But Hungarian cuisine... that's for some other forum.

And one more thing - Hungarian hiking trails are exceptionally marked and usually well maintained. Even Matra as the highest mountain is no exception to this rule.

12.12.2015. Kekestető

Also this year to the highest peak of Hungary... One-day thing this year, quick ascent via the blue triangle trail, down via the Marija trail with one interesting short ravine. Shame there was no time, usually it's a two-day thing and on the second day another peak in Hungary comes... maybe next year.

With me were also Jež, Ante and Mislav. More about the trip in pictures and words on the Facebook page Lov na avanture,
