12th hike on the Slovenian tolar path

On Saturday, 13.01.2018 the 12th hike on the Slovenian tolar path took place. The hike first happened twelve years ago in memory of the abolished Slovenian tolar and adoption of the euro. For the first time in history we had our own currency.

Hikers from PD Škofja Loka went on the hike, joined by hikers from PD Logatec and PD Hum. Organizer is PD Brežice and it happens every year on the same date.

Start was at Dom Torkarjev PD Brežice. The monument stands on Veliki vrh-701m above Osredak in Brežice hills. It's the Orlic range which has several peaks, including Veliki vrh where the monument is. We climbed to Veliki vrh on a steep path, descended on an easier one via Preska and Pusti vrh. No snow, not too much mud either. Unfortunately fog ruled. We returned to Dom Torkarjev where we had refreshments.

Yesterday the diligent hikers of PD Brežice organized the 14th consecutive hike on the Slovenian tolar path. This time we from PD Škofja Loka and PD Logatec united forces again and took two buses full of hikers on this hike. Organizers can boast big attendance. This year nice weather too. The whole path was dry all the way to the top at the monument. Back we went on another southern path. It was really nice.

The last hike on the Slovenian tolar path was in 2020. Then it was canceled for two years due to known reasons. The report and pics from the 1019 hike somehow got lost for me. This year the hike was in snow. Now this path seems to be renamed to Path of Sovereignty - at least that's how I understand it. Start as every year at the Godlarjevi homestead in the village Osredek pri Podsredi - here also home of Hram Torkarjev PD Brežice. From here start and end of the hike. Here hikers earn at the end a hot snack and home wine and home pastries. The path goes past the local community home Osredek. Here locals treat us with selection of home pastries - no lack. The mayor of Kozje municipality also addresses us. Then follows the path to our goal Veliki vrh, where the Slovenian tolar monument is. Here the Slovenian anthem is obligatorily sung. The path to the top was dry - pleasant. Down on another path - went a bit differently than some years back. We go past the starting point from the other side. The return path is pleasant. Soon we arrive at the starting point for hot snack - cabbage, sausage and home wine. We had a good time.
