Klemenča cave 1208m / Sušica 1200m / Logar Valley 896m
For years I've wanted to find the path from Klemenča to Logar Valley. Yesterday with my colleague instead of sheltering at the "bell of wishes" right (path to Razpotje/Hotel Plesnik) we headed left past the half-collapsed wooden hut. This now dilapidated hut once gave shelter to many alpinists and KSA visitors. We wade through half-meter vegetation and soon we're in a dark forest.
Green moss on rocks, fallen trees, smell of decay tell us that moisture isn't lacking here. We're searching for remains of a possible path. Soon, surprised, we stumble on faded markers. In places path remnants are visible, otherwise not. Markers poorly visible, faded and sometimes densely placed or unnoticeable. Soon the path takes us to the edge of a sheer wall. Below us there's quite some "air". Rotting remains of a bench tell us that people used to sit here and enjoy the view of Logar Valley.
On the ground I spot a rusted cable and high in the bushy beech half-decayed remains of some kind of spindle and around it coiled rusted cable. We can't explain the meaning...
We cross a shallow gully in the forest with running water and the poorly visible path soon disappears. We can't find the markers. We continue on our own, descent blocked by the sheer wall separating us from Logar Valley. I assume we cross the top of Sušica 1200m. Suddenly a huge gully appears before us, which flows into Logar Valley. No passage ahead, only descent into the gully left. It's strenuous and hot (around 1 pm). Full caution needed so we don't end up far below or get crushed by some huge rock waiting for a touch...
We hit a stocked salt lick, which gives us hope we'll find path continuation. But nature erases all traces in the gully right away. When we try to retreat to forest on the other side we accidentally find a clearly visible marker and path traces. Occasionally we lose path traces, don't worry too much. We know we're near the Logarski kot inn. Markers lead us right to the inn.
Cooling in the inn's shade talking to the guy serving us we learn almost no one uses this access from Logar Valley to Klemenča cave anymore. The last one the guy remembers was surprised by a bear on the way. So he ran back terrified to the inn...nasmeh

Difficult but followable despite faded markers, interesting and beautiful trail. Key spot is the wide gully. Pity the trail is so abandoned...
regards

Today, after a year, I'm again on this hidden, abandoned path.
Started in Logarski kot at 6am at 14°C. Across the meadow to the entrance to Grlo. Ascent through the eroded rocks of Grlo didn't give us trouble. No more snow. The path is nicely visible and also old markings.
In Krnica we go our own way and climb to the ridge of Rjavčki vrh. Walk along the ridge, snack, descent to Klemenča cave. Here we refresh with cold water and continue. Past half-collapsed barracks into cold forest. We search for markings and follow them. Almost no traces of the path left.
We manage to find the continuation of markings, which Pika and I missed last year. The "path" is cut into the steep forest slope right above the precipitous wall. Some spots are quite exposed and any slip would end far below. We manage to follow and finally crawl to the wide gully. Gully in the sun, hot, loose scree...
But we manage to cross the gully exactly to the marking on the other side. Now follows a walk to the Logarski kot hut, where we parked in the morning.
Everything full of cars, visitors. After 7 hours of walking we drink beer and head home.

Logarski kot/Grlo/Rjavčki vrh/Klemenča/Logarski kot
When we arrive in Logarska around seven, the summits are covered in fog. We park in Logarski kot, parking lot still empty. Fog hangs right down to the entrance to Grlo. We ascend and count on breaking through the fog curtain. I barely find the entrance to the gully to the Rjavči ridge. Remains of snow patches are southern and not icy. On the ridge we are really above the fog and there are some views. Higher towards Škarje we hear loud talking and as if they are all the time in the same place.
On the ridge we snack and then descent to the path leading from Klemenča to Škarje. Again we are in mists that tear apart momentarily. To Klemenča cave then from the junction (Škrbina/Kopinškova) under the mists. The guys we heard under Škarje return. They wanted towards Planjava, but already at the beginning fell into drift up to their waist. Better turn back!
Follows descent from Klemenča to Logarski kot. First marking and a few next we find quickly then....zmeden
A bit of scrambling and finally find the right path. Traverses above the precipitous wall are quite demanding. Any slip would end far below. The path probably almost nobody uses anymore and is quite hard to follow. Markings (very faded) are there, but hard to follow.
The continuation I know well and we reach Logarski kot without issues.

Nice circular tour, shame the sun didn't manage to break through the mists more.

Yes Geppo I have to tell you, that we marked that path from Klemenča Cave me and my friends Korošc and Fux and we fell into disgrace with our "bosses" from PD Solčava but we survived. The trail was there from time immemorial. Even before the landslide in Rjavci. Unfortunately I don't know the year of that landslide. Jože Robanov told me that his old mother (who was Klemenča) told him that the farmers from Logarska and Matkov kot had to drive the livestock towards Železna Kapla so it survived, because it couldn't graze here until the rain washed the dust off the vegetation. That supposedly lasted three weeks and more. That supposedly happened before 1900, how much nobody knows anymore. And we drew those markings in 1994, when my wife and I were caretakers at Klemenča Cave. That was life.

When I crossed those forest traverses the second time I wondered why any mountaineering club marked there? Left the hardest spots unprotected. Then abandoned the marked path like that. Three traverses in the forest are the hardest. One traverse is secured with cck. 6mm prusik. But it's so worn from weather that I doubt it would hold you in case of a slip.
The colleague who was with me stated: "deadly dangerous marked path"!
Any slip on that slope is irreparable. You have only a few very steep meters, then it's a precipitous wall and you end far below.
Yes, but those three critical traverses can be bypassed on the upper part. Then this little path is totally OK. The terrain you just have to get to know first to know where. In the gully you can't do much anyway because conditions change on the fly. Just have to spot the start of the path on the other side of the gully.
Interesting path, which I'll probably take many more times to Logarski kot. Especially now that I know where the traverses can be bypassed...cool

On Sunday my friend and I treated ourselves to a nice tour and for the icing on the cake added descent from Klemenča along the abandoned path to Logarski kot. The path that takes you to the kot along faded and well-hidden markings is for me full of adrenaline and beauties that this forgotten space offers. Just the thought of this path awakens spirits and different feelings in me. Part of the path runs along the edge of a terrible abyss and so no senseless acrobatics here. The three traverses are still as dangerous as last year. I went across and decided that next time I'll rather bypass this part higher and avoid the eerie feeling of this crossing. It goes, but a slip there means death! The path is abandoned for a reason!

I'm adding the note about the landslide that ziki mentioned. I found it in the book Solčava written by Valent Vider. Regards
