Along the Path of Peace in the Karst

We drove past the village of Komna and started the hike in the village of Lipa. The path led us along the ridge of Črni hrib. First Trstelj, then towards Stol, Stolovec, Vrjevka, Renški vrh, Fajtji hrib and to Veliki Cerj. We also visited Pečinka cave. The tour is beautiful and varied, you encounter remnants of the First World War that remind you of the bloody events from almost 100 years ago. On Cerje hill, where a mighty monument to the defenders of Slovenian land stands, we have a beautiful view of Tržič, Friulian plain, Doberdob plateau, and in clear weather also on Julian Alps and Dolomites. We finished the hike in the village of Lokvica, where we pampered ourselves a bit with good wine. Nice hiking greeting.

We hiked around six hours. Moderate pace, few stops to drink and snack. Path really nice, but recommend some fitness anyway. Lp

Beautiful! Can you provide a more detailed path description?

Many walk this path, I ran it in 22 minutes. Started from the parking lot at Štanta (road between Opatje Selo and Miren) along the road to the Cerje monument and back. Took photos on the way back a bit to the right and left.

These days it's quite tiring, not even 12 hours passed since the night hike, already my wife and I drove to the Karst, or better to the parking lot (Štanta), from where the path leads to Cerje. Unfortunately the weather forecasters were a bit wrong, the weather wasn't like in the morning anymore, but we didn't worry about it. After 35 minutes we arrived at Cerje, where there were nice views towards Julian Alps, Dolomites, Friulian plain, towards the sea and surrounding peaks. At the top we decided to continue to Fajti hrib. The path goes along the ridge, a bit up and down, but the tour is nice. Markings are arranged and guide us nicely along the edge, but when turning right to Fajti hrib (464 m) on the gravel road that gently ascends, the marking isn't visible, it's somehow 2 meters off the path, so you can easily miss the path to the top. At the top there's a neatly arranged info board describing events from WWI. From here nice views towards the sea, J. Alps and Trnovo plateau, but unfortunately the views weren't nice as they were covered by low clouds or fog. We return the same way to the starting point, in between I also photograph the sunny sunset.

After yesterday's tour to Krn Lake, today I decide to run from Cerje towards Trstelj. Temperature was +3 degrees and it was a bit windy at the top. I ran along the ridge, first towards Fajti hrib, where I descended to the next one, namely Veliki vrh (463), which from the direction of Fajti hrib after a gentle start rises quite steeply. On Veliki vrh there are also some nice views but I continue ahead and descend along its gentle slope. The trail I came on is crossed by a gravel road, but right after it the marking for continuing towards Trstelj was clearly visible. I run along it for another 10 minutes and due to heavy legs decide to return to the start. This time the views of the surrounding landscape were excellent. Many visitors experienced the Cerje monument today, and of course someone waited for me with hot tea and freshly baked strudel, which was delicious. Nice end to the day and week. Thanks.
