Today, on 06.03.2011, the male and female hikers of PD Slovenj Gradec set off on the already 33rd winter hike to Arih's Furnace (in memory of the fallen fighters in February 1945). The starting point was in the village Čemernica/Tschemernitzen (724 m) above Šentjakob v Rožu/St. Jakob in Rosenthal (480 m). The first control point was at the bunker below Arih's Furnace, where a tour of the bunker followed, the next control point was at the hut above Arih's Furnace, the third, last one at Resman's hunting hut. Upon arrival at the goal, it is necessary to submit the control card with control stamps; everyone who has collected all 3 control stamps receives a diploma for participation in the winter hike to Arih's Furnace. Whoever participates in the winter hike for the 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, or 30th time receives an additional award badge.
Otherwise, the weather really served us excellently on this year's hike, as it was completely clear, without any cloud, it was really hot in the sunvelik nasmehmežikanje, no wind. Snow was somewhere 30-50 cm, in drifts even more.

@Mr. Trollington, it's always a great pleasure for me to share the beautiful beauties of nature with everyone here on the forum, since this is a mountain forum after all, and it doesn't matter if sometimes (well with me almost alwaysmežikanje) there's also a chapel or church nearby, since they, as I said recently, are also part of the mountainsvelik nasmehnasmehmežikanje

It was more aimed at the misplaced comment of ljubitelj gora, but your contribution is top notch.

Hribovc88, a contribution like that, full of emotions and love for the mountains... I understand you so well. It's true, there are quite a few lone mountaineers among us and we like to walk in silence that allows full contact with the mountain that carries us... oh where, of course into the mystical universe of which we are always a part...velik nasmeh ..sorry, I got carried away. Just my thought, as a result of a pleasant experience, walking in a group of like-minded people is also nice, just have to try itnasmeh

On 04.03.2012, mountaineers from PD Mislinja and PD Slovenj Gradec set off on the 34th winter hike to Arihova peč (in memory of fallen fighters in February 1945). The starting point was in the village Čemernica/Tschemernitzen (724 m) above Šentjakob in Rož/St. Jakob in Rosenthal (480 m). First checkpoint at the bunker below Arihova peč, next at the hut above Arihova peč, third and last at Resmanova hunting hut. Upon arrival at the finish, it is necessary to present the control card with stamps; everyone who has all 3 control stamps receives a diploma for participating in the winter hike to Arihova peč. Those who participate in the 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, or 30th receive an additional award badge.
Anyway, the weather served us well on this year's hike, despite a not too promising forecast. Upon arrival in Čemernica it was cloudy, but the sun soon peeked through the clouds, though it didn't fully clear. There was less snow this year than last, but the atmosphere was no less wintery. About 700 hikers participated this year.

Over 600 hikers at the 34th winter hike Arihova peč 2012!

ŠENTJAKOB V ROŽU/CELOVEC, 04 March 2012 – This year's already 34th winter hike Arihova peč, organized since 1979 by the Slovenian Sports Association, Slovenian Mountaineering Association and Slovenian Cultural Association "Rož" in memory of the fallen fighters under Arihova peč, was completely successful. The event this year also took place under the sign of the 70th anniversary of the violent deportation of Carinthian Slovenes to Nazi camps in Germany, attracting over 600 hikers from Carinthia and Styria, Slovenia, Italy and even from Croatia.

Among the participants there were also numerous honorary guests, including Slovenian General Consul in Klagenfurt Dragica Urtelj, the only surviving partisan from the bunker under Arihova peč Bogdan Mohor-Ston (87), president of the Carinthian Partisans' Association and vice-president of the Slovenian Emigrants' Association Dr. Katja Sturm-Schnabl, presidents of the Association of Slovenian Organizations and Slovenian Cultural Association Dr. Marjan Sturm and Dr. Avguštin Brumnik, chairman of the supervisory board of the Bank Association DI Feliks Wieser, provincial deputy KPA from Styria Ernest Kaltenegger, mayor of Ljubno municipality in Savinja valley Franjo Naraločnik. Also the elder of Slovenian mountaineers in Carinthia, honorary member of the Slovenian Sports Association and initiator of the memorial hike Arihova peč, Lubo Urbajs (89), came to Čemernica.

The hike this year again led from the start at Polanc on Čemernica first to the renovated partisan bunker and memorial plaque under Arihova peč, then up the (this year dry) slopes to the mountain hut of the Slovenian Mountaineering Association Klagenfurt at Bleščeča (1,084 m), hikers returned to the valley past Ressmann hut to the festive conclusion at Polanc. And also on this year's hike, which took place in dry weather, there was no lack of sociability - neither at the hut at Bleščeča, where members of the Slovenian Mountaineering Association Klagenfurt led by president Hanzej Lesjak welcomed the hikers, nor at the finish at Čemernica, where a snack, drinks and even music were prepared for the hikers. Every participant also received a diploma for participation in the hike.

On behalf of the organizers, the chairman of the organizing committee Danilo Prušnik and moderator Tatjana Kupper also this year awarded numerous hikers with a gold badge who participated in the hike for the 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th and 30th time. Fifth time: Ivanka Čulič, Bernard Rutnik... [shortened for brevity, full list same as slo]; ... 30th time: Brigitte Prušnik.

A look at the list of hikers confirmed that more and more (also young) hikers from the entire bilingual area of Carinthia and German-speaking fellow citizens participate in the memorial and at the same time sports-recreational event, participation of hikers from all Slovenia has been at a high level for years – members of mountaineering associations from Styria via Carinthia, Upper Carniola and Ljubljana to Primorska. The strongest groups from Slovenia this year came from Tržič, Celje and Ljubno. This year two strong groups of Slovenian mountaineering associations from Italy also participated, namely from Trieste and Gorizia. The hike was also attended again by Radisav Aleksić, a faithful hiker from Samobor near Zagreb.

In addition to the large number of hikers, over 40 volunteers from the Slovenian Mountaineering Association Klagenfurt, the local cultural association "Rož" and the Slovenian Sports Association contributed to the success of this year's event. As every year, numerous sponsors supported the event, including Bank Association in Klagenfurt, Savings Banks Šentjakob v Rožu, Borovlje-Klagenfurt, Bilčovs, Zila-Beljak, Pliberk, Podjuna and Železna Kapla, ski factory Elan at Brnci, Unser Lagerhaus in Šentjakob, and others.

The jubilee 35th winter hike Arihova peč will be on Sunday, March 3, 2013.

35th WINTER HIKE "ARIHOVA PEČ 2013"

550 hikers in wonderful weather at the 35th winter hike "Arihova peč 2013"!

ŠENTJAKOB V ROŽU, 03 March 2013 – This year's 35th traditional hike in memory of the fallen fighters under Arihova peč attracted about 550 hikers, who ascended from Polanc on Čemernica to the renovated partisan bunker and memorial plaque under Arihova peč and then via the more demanding path at Arihova peč or a slightly easier path past Ressmann hut to the only Slovenian mountain hut in the Karawanks at Bleščeča (1084 m), maintained by Slovenian Mountaineering Association Celovec. Hikers returned to the valley again past Ressmann hut to the festive conclusion at Polanc. And also on this year's hike, which took place in excellent weather, there was no lack of sociability - neither at the hut at Bleščeča, where members of Slovenian Mountaineering Association Celovec led by president Hanzij Lesjak welcomed hikers, nor at the finish at Čemernica, where snack, drinks and music were prepared for hikers. Every participant also received a diploma for participation.

A look at the list of hikers confirmed that more and more (also young) hikers from the entire bilingual area of Carinthia and German-speaking fellow citizens participate in this memorial and sports-recreational event. Participation of hikers from all Slovenia has been very numerous for years – members from mountaineering associations from Styria via Carinthia, Gorenjska and Ljubljana to Primorska. The strongest group from Slovenia this year came from Tržič. The hike was also attended this year by Bogdan Mohor-Ston, the last surviving Partisan raider under Arihova peč in 1945.

To the success of this year's event, besides the large number of hikers, over 40 volunteers from Slovenian Mountaineering Association Celovec, local cultural association "Rož" and Slovenian Sports Association contributed. As every year, numerous sponsors supported, including Bank Association in Celovec, Savings Banks Borovlje-Celovec, Bilčovs, Zila-Beljak, Podjuna and Železna Kapla, ski factory Elan at Brnci, Unser Lagerhaus in Šentjakob, and others.
