The pictures look real, as do the descriptions. But with Mallory it bothered me that his back is bare (at least that's how I see it) and he's kinda fresh, well a bit pale. While in another picture it says that frost and wind bite bare skin to the bone. I know that bodies preserve well in severe frost, but that's still a contradiction. And the ground is dry, even if just a bit above zero, the body would most likely start disintegrating right away.

I read the article, which (should be) written in our language, well there are tons of mistakes. The pictures are gruesome though.

I think those shots are real. Around the body it's really dry, but that doesn't mean that in a few years or decades you'll only find clothes at the location! Anyway the guy is missing half anyway, so sun and wind surely affect...

Anya, thanks for the link to the original article! It's true, as one can predict, namely that there are actually many more of them on the slopes..

Silent reminder that mountains are unforgiving if you don't respect them. These photos are so shocking. But I wonder why families didn't arrange to at least bring them to land and lay them in a stone grave? Or that climbers don't care for their dead comrades? It's consoling that our boys aren't among them. That they decently buried those they found.

Rescue at these extreme altitudes in extreme conditions is extremely demanding, so it's rarely done. Here no technology can help, only manpower which is already fighting for survival itself, regardless of experience. Believe me, if it were so simple to get bodies off the mountain, they would do it.

Irina, even that our boys aren't up there isn't entirely true... there's ZS.
