Airlines are tightening carry-on luggage size conditions... I'm buying a new hiking backpack approx 30l+ and wondering if anyone recently traveled with such and took it as carry-on on plane?
Limit is 35x35x55

Anyway I'll go to the store with a meter but if anyone has a suggestion it will help a lot. velik nasmeh Thanks.

@Lisica ... I often travel by plane with a 40-liter backpack to distant hiking destinations. I always take it in the cabin and have never had issues with oversized dimensions. The backpack is quite compressible and squashable and you can usually stuff it into the baggage dimension frame without problems. But you can use some tricks...

First, get cheap compression, waterproof bags for packing clothes. You won't believe how much space they save. Link ... Klik

Second, before baggage control, you can put on as many clothes as you want and thus further reduce the backpack volume. No one will hassle you for that.

Watch out with Ryanair. They now only allow a backpack if you pay a few euros more for *Priority check*. Without it, only a small bag is allowed.

You can also take a foldable umbrella in the cabin, but not trekking poles. The cheapest is to send it by mail to the address of the first overnight stay.

Happy travels nasmeh

Lisica, I also always have a 35l backpack as hand luggage and no problems. Just need to watch that they don't throw heavy suitcases over it, especially the hard ones ... On glasses etc. Well, you watch a bit at the beginning.
Otherwise very practical, you carry your belongings on your shoulders, hands free.
Nice purchase!

Thanks everyone for the tips. nasmeh I already feel better. I admit I'm totally confused with all the hand luggage restrictions and I know some are really strict especially low-cost airlines. Recently I saw they didn't let a girl take a small backpack with personal items because allegedly there was no more space in the cabin. mrk pogled

@Macesna, which backpack do you use?

Hey,
I have McKinley Black Burn 35 liters. Bought it at Intersport a few years ago. Not sure if exactly this one is still available, probably something similar. I'm very satisfied, it's really durable and lots of stuff fits in, even laptop etc.
Haven't flown Ryanair with it yet. On other flights no problems, last time used it in January on flight to Brazil (first LJ - Paris) and around.

Got the Tempest 30 and compression bags. nasmeh Now hoping I can stuff everything in and Ryanair won't make a fuss if it's a cm too much somewhere. velik nasmeh zavijanje z očmi
