On Monday from Bavšica along Bala valley to Prevala where the snow starts. When the ascent to Čez Brežice pass begins, we turned left, climbed up the gully to the slope below the peaks of Loška stena towards Konjska škrbina. Descent below the rock barrier stretching from Morež into the valley. In the forest there is a faintly visible path that leads us back to the marked trail a little above Lovska hut. As usual, we met no living soul, not counting 4 chamoiswinking

mirank, this looks very interesting. Is it passable in that direction as you describe, even in dry conditions? well, I mean all that off the marked path nasmeh

A couple of years ago, due to worsening weather, we aborted the traverse of Loška stena and descended from Konjska škrbina into Bala. The passages are somewhere there where we went on Monday. Below the wall barrier, you descend until you spot the beech forest on the left, there you go left and into the forest as soon as possible. At the edge of the forest, we saw a hunting salt lick back then and followed a barely traceable path from there. For the part from the marked trail to Brežice-ko, you turn left uphill, I can only assume that it's all passable even when overgrown. Off-trail anyway, as is most around there...

We walked through the Bala Valley the previous day. Without any particular goal. The goal was the Bala Valley and then we'll see, we said. Well, we stopped towards the end of the valley, in the Lanževica cirque, where we sank in deeply in some places. But the goal was achieved, as we enjoyed the beauties of this valley along the whole path, its silence, to the singing of cuckoos, admired the slopes of Pelci and Pihavci on one side, on the other side gazed at the slopes of Loška stena. But the greatest impression on me was made by Bedinji vrh, whose rocky walls showed their might somewhere above the Prevale saddle. That's why I went a little towards it there along the modest path, but I'm sorry I didn't climb higher. So mysterious and beautiful is this world in the Bala Valley.

If I summarize briefly, we started at the parking lot in Bavšica, by the signposts. Then we continued along mossy stone fences past the abandoned village of Logje, which nevertheless showed some life that day, as white smoke was rising from the chimney of the nearest house already in the morning. Oh, how it delighted us. Then we slowly ascended over barely greened meadows and newly leafed trees to the former Pl. Bala, headed further towards the hunting hut, where we took a short break. We also noticed a water trough there, and saw the branch-off of the path to the left leading to Briceljek. This information was important to us, as maybe this one will come up sometime. Then we continued towards the interesting Jezerce sinkhole, below it I was attentive to another branch-off of a really modest path, in the direction of Stador. That's also worth remembering. Here you actually enter the kingdom of the mountain world of Pelci ahead and walking becomes even more of a pleasure. Then across Prevale into the snowy world at this time, where walking really slows down, as sinking is nothing unusual. With arrival in the Lanževica cirque, we thus ended the continuation. But not the admiration of nature, as the world here is truly wonderful.

Along the whole path we met only one hiker, it was a young Italian woman with a heavily loaded backpack, who headed up the slope right at the Prevale saddle. I'm rather sorry I didn't ask her about her plans.

Mihelič wrote in his guidebook that the path through Bala is solitary, but extremely beautiful. And how right he wasnasmeh!
