Finally we set off. A hike that my friend and I have been planning for a while. Begunjščica by full moon. We start at seven in the evening from Poljska, the path leads us through a dark and gloomy forest, we miss the turn-off, we bushwhack up the steepest possible slope. A little below Roblek it's icy and first snow patches. It's getting colder too. Pieces of clothing come out of the backpack that we previously stuffed in with such joy. There's snow at Roblek. Short break for tea and a meeting. We're determined to continue. As the first, we plunge into the snow and we start ascending towards the summit. Below the middle summit, an acquaintance comes towards us with three dogs. "No wind on top", those are the words we want to hear... We slowly progress towards the summit. Yes, that's it. On the top, and already on the way such views. The valley illuminated by moonlight, Stol, Vrtača... You can see all the way to Grintovci, and on the other side the entire Julian Alps. We stand speechless on the top. This needs to be repeated. Although people take Begunjščica lightly, it has taken many lives. The steep grassy slopes can be unpredictable. Although crampons weren't necessary, we all had an ice axe and winter footwear of course. Crampons are mandatory equipment in the mountains in winter along with the ice axe. Better too much than without. Nice mountaineer's greeting.

With the post there's nothing wrong, it's quite fine... but... do you really think this title is appropriate?

maybe to some it seems stupid and thoughtless. but once you're on the top time stops. perfect silence, only rubbing of snow crystals and you...

everything unusual in mountains is extreme, looks of people you meet often say more than words. not all present on this forum do winter ascents, let alone at night by full moon. anyway I personally think many of us enjoy this and will continue. so for those I correct title to Begunjščica by full moon. that way goat is full and wolf whole. , and best regards

I agree, it's an extreme, unusual (every night) feat!

haha, crazy. Craziness started at Roblek. Suddenly it lit us. When you reach the ridge, silence pulls you in. Above the clouds then "party", but this time at night with stars and moon scattered sky. Worth experiencing, I tell you.

Night hikes are the law and ascent on Begunjščica one way or another is not extreme feat. I've visited in winter plenty of peaks by full moon (JALOVEC...) and greater pleasure there isn't practically in clear weather headlamp not needed at all! But don't all go at night now cuz then there won't be peace even then.

Congratulations, that's all I can say. Night hiking and then to the sunrise, why didn't you wait for the sunrise, I think it would be fantastic Ugn, what is extreme for you? For me it already is especially if I'd go alone. I'd hike mountains too but injury keeps me in the valley, it just eats me up when I know sun's up there.... I'm glad such people exist, night owls and so on......Nice greeting
