Today 20.10.08 we visited Raduha. We had a hiker with us who was in the mountains for the first time and we chose a path suitable for him too.
In Struge we drove (Koča na Loki) towards Planina Bela peč. We parked the car (8:30) shortly after the junction where the road splits - for Koča na Loki.
We went straight up the slope (steep) and higher up we found a little path (unmarked), which we followed. Soon we noticed below the Javornik pasture and sheep grazing near the barn and hut.
In the scree we found a passage and headed steeply towards Lanež. Before that we descended to the saddle (two small water ponds - ice covers them). After a steep ascent we reached Durce (10:40) - the north side is snowy and icy!! At 11:20 we were at the summit. After a rest we descended to Loka (at the hut 12:50).
We rested in the warm sun, admired nature and headed to the starting point. Now we went past the barn and hut at Javornik (previously observed from the ridge). Sheep with lambs were a bit scared of us - but we didn't disturb them.
On a beautiful autumn day we returned to the car at 14:00.
jprim - today complete peace, views.. and this ascent is much (at least for me more pleasant than from Loka)

Yesterday 22.5.09 we did a partial repeat of the route.
So along the ridge to summit Jelovec 1845 (unmarked) to Lanež and all to Velika Raduha. Then we descended to Koča na Loki and via Planina Javorje back to starting position.
First - road to Loka under repair - caution and possible jams (6:00 to 14:00). This peak - Jelovec we noticed last year. Looks like a stone cone and no path to see. Cross on top attracted us (so visited). Last year we searched path to top and did not find it. This year past hunting hut to ridge and we saw faint path traces. On ridge we searched path to top and found it. Path last 50m more demanding otherwise not. We were a bit confused because we did not see the cross (we found it later on the ground - probably storm). We also found Honik path from Lanež top. We decided to check once and do loop (Grohat - very demanding path to Raduha - Honik path to Grohat), to see how it looks.
On Raduha still snow patches. Descent to Loka wet and muddy. Koča na Loki open permanently from next week. Whole route took 6 hours.

Wandering on Raduha!
My friend and I planned today to descend on the abandoned (Honik) path to Grohat and then over Durce back to the ridge. Road to Loka in good condition and much additionally asphalted.
Bela peč - sheep and ice candles await us. Wind sharp as razor and immediately we started putting on winter clothes.
First goal was the little visited peak Jelovec. First steps into forest reveal frozen morels - no panic, others remained on the grounds!!
In one hour we were on Jelovec top and continued towards Lanež. On ridge whoooo!
Path to (Honik) Grohat we just viewed and agreed - DIFFERENT!!
We continued towards Mala and then Velika Raduha. Little snow and some icy - no problems!
Glance through Durce to Grohat brief - insanely tempting!!
Soon on top and snack (also for ravens). Every photographing - groaning!

Call to hutkeeper on Loka: "already home, up only over Saturday Sunday"
So we did not descend and drank supplies from backpack and searched passages through scree and Planina Javorje. When we found the path, along the marks to the vehicle.
Temperature from +1 to -3 degrees (Polar)
Time used 6:05 hours.
