Barbara,

could I please ask for info if there's still any snow on the path?
Thank you very much.

...when Italians write "only for experts", you know you'll experience something full of adrenaline and unexpected, not just a forest walk and the path was long, goal came last and even that was in question...we two were sweating before first steps, hehe
From Sella Nevea under scary wall, where clever Italians with platforms solved climbers' belay and wall access issue, really originalnasmeh, we crossed steep grass, narrow trails, endless valley views and Juliet&Romeo balconies and with deep breaths "broke through" to beautiful Gorjuda pasture.
Path moderately climbs amid lots of "greenery" and tension feels over, soon forest thins, more views and suddenly rushing with mists over slopes stretched like chewing gum to nicest "hotel" Marušič.
Of course, snack....my mind already on today's goal and after crossing under Kanin (btw, still plenty snow), crossed two nasty snow patches and were grabbing and climbing to Bela Peč, house mountain of Gilberti hut. Still think of that frayed rope at worst spot, wonder how long it holds, hehe, otherwise no fixed protections. Hurried on descent because black clouds not promising and co-traveler's loved sunbathing, swimming, lounging at Rabelj Lake fell off...but don't worry, she got hers too...
We had descent to start point and walk turned full day againnasmeh

16.5. Nice ski tour from Sella Nevea first to Bela Peč, then down to Gilberti, then up to Saddle under Prestreljenik with ski down to valley.
Carried skis to saddle of Bela Peč. There drop the pack, up to summit, a few pics and back. On saddle put on skis, ski past Gilberti, skins on and up Slovenian side. On saddle sit for a long time, then ski down valley that ends at 1500m. Then half-hour hike with gear to car.

Today we treat ourselves to some luxury. Drive to Sella Nevea pass, then circular cablecar to Gilberti hut. On comfy trail up to saddle and on to summit Monte Bila Pec (Bela Peč). Only us on top. Nice day, pity peaks fogged too quick...

Legenda, big thanks for this luxury. Hubby and I liked the idea so much we copied itnasmeh. Short climb from saddle to summit pure pleasure. Only one up there. On return stopped at Rabeljsko Lake then scenic road to Bovec, then Vršič and valley. Nice relaxing day before next more orng climbsnasmeh

Nice viewpoint above Gilberti.
To saddle crowded, to summit right no one. Met three hikers on descent.
Path well trodden, bit of scrambling on ridge here and there. Marked with red circles.

Today from Sella Nevea via Gilberti to Bela Peč, then checked conditions under Kanin. As mentioned, path to Bela Peč clearly visible, caution at some spots. View from summit wonderful, 360 degrees all mountains. Path to ferrata Julia easy now, no snow below entry. Many visitors after cablecar starts.

Well, a year has passed since the last postnasmeh.

We imagined a more relaxed walking day and spiced the tour with a stop at Rabeljsko Lake, followed by a descent into the Ziljica gorge, and a peek into the Remšendol valley, because during the last visit the king of the valley Monte Bucher was wrapped in fog. This time it wasn'tnasmeh.

End of July conquered Bela Peč, we even took the gondola all the way to Gilberti hut, return ticket price is 10 euros and runs nonstop from 8.30 to 17.30 on weekends, during the week break between 13 and 14h.

Crowd on path to saddle, these days we cross one more snowfield, overall still huge snowfields under Kanin, Preval, ...

From saddle to summit path really exposed (poles stow away right away), climb on rocks, new rope at start helps crossing. On summit we were alone, met only ibex family, view really exceptional.

Descent even bigger challenge than ascent. Still some Styrian managed to climb up with ice pick in one hand ... eek

To hut circled via botanical path under Bela Peč wall avoiding snowfield, recommend!

Maybe next time right from Nevea saddle, now we know path routes, though many go straight on ski slope ...

After Špik and Triglav I wanted something shorter, something "easy", even if less "fancy" velik nasmeh Started and ended at Na Žlebeh. Up on foot past planina Gorjuda and bivak Marušič, down past Gilbertija with cable car. Around casera Gorjuda overgrown, due to dew wet to knees. "Water for rheumatism," I told myself, "nettles burning through pants cure for it." Path to Gorjuda otherwise OK, further to bivak and saddle and summit Bela Peč same. On way from Gorjuda to bivak scared a marmot that cheekily startled me, so close and so loud it whistled in my ears. Two snowfields between bivak and saddle doable without gear, caution of course. Large mug radler on Gilbertija terrace 5€, cable car down only 8€. Going up alone to bivak, then to Bela Peč saddle quite some with bikes and via ferrata sets, one even with skis, from saddle to Gilbertija "queue marching". As usual sin worth the effort nasmeh

Comfortably by cable car to Gilberti hut. Continue to Bela Peč saddle, then to Bela Peč summit. At saddle still some visitors, but no one decided for the summit. Pity, views from the top are really wonderful. The path is somewhat more demanding.
So as not to stop there, we then continued to Bivak Marussich and the saddle in Senožeče, between Vrh Grubje and Žrd. There we turned back and returned via Vrh Grubje, then again to Bivak Marussich and by the same path back to Gilberti.
The whole path is extremely picturesque, full of flowers and "tame" female ibex.
No snow anywhere on the path.

There via Tolmin, Bovec where traffic lights for road works, back via Jesenice. Start at Sella Nevea and via forest path to Bela Peč, path maintained, grass mown, well marked. Met quite a few and most greet. Down the ski slope. Large asphalt parking, no problem parking, some campers along the road to Rabeljsko lake and no one bothers them, as would in Slovenia. Thought to swim a bit in the lake, but changed my mind instantly, no, since I doubt I can swim as well as 15 years ago.
