I've had an MTB tour in mind for a while, where I'd connect all three mountain valleys in one trip, and today was the day.
I park in Rutah at the collapsing Špik hotel, 'cause it's forbidden in the forest now. I gear up my Gary Fisher and speed through Kranjska Gora to Lake Jasna and Kozorog. I check the panorama and cycle across the border to Belopeška Mangart Lakes on the new bike trail. At the lake some Italians are admiring the shore calmly with slow walking. There I turn to the lonely Jezerska Planina and snack on an old bench by the hut with great view of Vevnica wall. The blessed peace under Mangart was spoiled only by muffled rumble of forestry machines in the forest depths. Gotta push on if I wanna see the other two beautiful pastures! Quick across the border again comfortably without passport. Sun's stronger, so I lighten my clothes. I reach Tamar hut quickly too and treat myself to apple strudel and excellent tap water from the hut on the bench. Already a bit tipsy I speed to Kranjska Gora, tourists on the road stare at me kinda strangely. No matter, I turn left before Erika onto the gravel path that cyclists say is adrenaline rush, but only in the sense I had to dismount twice and push the bike 'cause of scree. Higher up it's some known ski touring hiking path all the way to Krnica Hut. There after the last stage I have a shot of good spruce brandy and Laško for thirst. I drink their tap water too, even better than Tamar's, and 1 degree cooler here i.e. 15.5°C. Hut's building storage and shower, so only drinks for weekend. For return I pick Vršič road, quick ride to car in Rutah. Great tour that tires you and not, somewhere in between. Extremely nice tho, can watch mountains around whole way, air sharp as knife. Distance 67km, ride time 4h 2min, avg 16.6km/h, max 62km/h-descent from Mangart lakes. Cheers!

Today a short morning ride to Tamar. Start in Kranjska Gora, join the crowd of cyclists and others on the bike path and ride towards Rateče to Planica. Many end there, but I leave asphalt and head to Tamar. Crowd of visitors there too, but most hikers take marked footpath, I continue on road. From start it's nasty with lots of gravel and toughest part right at beginning. Later nice easy path and ride with great views to Tamar Hut. Here I'd praise the friendly staff who served guests quickly despite crowd. They have excellent dark radler with lemon taste. It hit the spot. Return same way. In Kr. Gora continue to Jasna, which is exceptionally nicely arranged, huge crowd and cold water. Still some of us happily swam. That hit too
