Benča - Bernese Mountain Dog

Yesterday I learned that Benča - the legendary Bernese Mountain Dog, is no more. Considering she was quite known and popular among visitors to the Kamnik-Savinja Alps (area around Logar Valley) I thought to open a thread where we could post some photo or write some story related to Benča, also with the purpose to record where all and in what conditions she was. I suggest if someone posts a photo to also add the date and place of the photo and the author of the photo…If administrators find the thread inappropriate please delete the thread.
Benča accompanied me several times mainly to Klemenča Cave then went her own way. Last year 22.4.2016 in practically winter conditions even all the way to the top of Ojstrica (via Škarje), which I also filmed:

Also on my path, winter 2015, on Okrešelj Benča joined me. First I thought it was just a lost dog. On the collar she wore there was a phone number, which I of course called. The lady told me that Bebča likes to go roaming with passersby. And so Benča and I spent a nice winter day. At the end of our jaunt, we stopped at Benča's owners, chatted a bit, and continued each our own path. I had a pleasant experience with Benča

I met her on the top of Krofička, then she went with me to Strelovec and to the Haudej farm. In between she went off on her own twice but returned to me.

Berners are great dogs, Benča as I see is no exception. Unfortunately I didn't know her personally, but I'd gladly read some adventure with her.
Why did she die? Age?

Nice gesture that some of us remember Benča. My 11-year-old bitch Ajda saw this story and begged me (nagged, tired me out, drove me crazy.......), that we (meaning me) also post something about our encounters with this super little dog. Considering the size and mass, the term little dog might be questionable, but regarding character the word is undoubtedly appropriate. We met her at the Pension at the crossroads in May 2011, when our Ajda was 5 years old and a bit, we socialized and went on some outings. In the following years we met a few more times and hiked together to Klemenča Cave, towards Okrešelj and elsewhere. Definitely the friendliest and most sociable dog. All she needed was company, petting and some "hike". Yeah OK – probably also enormous amounts of food. But that was a challenge mainly for the owners. We will remember her too.

Klemen nice gesture...I met Benča 2x myself, unfortunately no photos.She was very friendly to me, happy for every kind word and company.I'm also a dog enthusiast.May she be well in their heavens, she deserved them

Hello, we the owners of the late Benča also report in, as we would like to thank everyone who revives memories of our little dog. Especially thanks to those who watched over her sometimes, as we are aware that otherwise the dog has nothing to do alone around, so we were all the more grateful for all the understanding regarding her wandering in the mountains over which we sometimes had no influence. From all your photos it is evident that she was happiest in the mountains, although comfort and pampering at home at Razpotje was not lacking Thanks once again to everyone who socialized and spent nice moments with her, Plesnik family from Razpotje

Usually in tourist spots you get a light stroller to borrow, at Na razpotju they went one step further and lent a dog  Good move, Benča obviously knew how to deal with people, she made a nice day for the grown-ups

Benča was a wonderful mountain dog! Seven years ago she accompanied our group to Okrešelj and prepared unforgettable fun for the kids. Two years ago I could thank her for that again at Na razpotju and repay her with a small treat. A dog we won't forget!
