After a good night's sleep I decide to visit the higher Averole valley by bike, a bit above Bessans. Locals say the valley is very beautiful, so I didn't hesitate long.
Above Lanslevillard the road winds up to Col de la Madeleine pass 1746m, then it levels out and after 12km I arrive in Bessans.From there another km where I turn right into Averole valley under the mighty Pointe du Charbonnel 3752m.For more than half the valley I ride on asphalt, from Averole village 2000m onwards gravel starts all the way to the river dam.I left the bike by a rock and walked another 160m higher to Refuge d´Averole 2210m.From Lanslevillard to the end of the valley 20km and 2h 30min ride.The Averole hut is also excellent starting point for ski touring, where mountains offer W and SW aspects less dangerous in spring regarding avalanches.In hard winter with lots of snow they can be very dangerous with avalanches from high peaks.Snow can be around 5m or more here as I saw from photos.Tours from the hut to surrounding peaks are all quite long, 4-6hrs, some very demanding.
On return it was flying again at avg speed 23km/h, so to Lanslevillard only under an hourvelik nasmeh.

In 8 hours constant drive (750km) you're in France via Cenis, fuel and toll enough 270€ round trip + some for accesses to tour starts, camp still 7€/day, cheeses 12€/kg, people friendly. Instead of roasting and boredom on crowded Med beaches this vacation variant is guaranteed more appealing.velik nasmehmežikanje

When in 2012 I was touring Haute Maurienne with MTB, they documented me a bit and filmed with camera. At farewell at Col de la Madeleine I just started straight into paradise land, so the guy laughed at me.
