Between Piran and Strunjan...

The area between Piran and Strunjan doesn't offer special hiking highlights, but it's still part of the short and varied Slovenian coastline...I chose to start in front of the Marine Biology Station in Fornače - Piran as an institution that cares for the Slovenian sea and coastal world with a scientific approach...Piran cliffs, freshwater lakes in Fiesa right by the sea and Strunjan salt pans were the next main challenges - worth seeing. Continuing, I connected in Strunjan to Parenzana - Porečanka and descended through Valeta tunnel to Portorož and along the salt warehouses and the Bernardin complex, finishing back in Piran. Two hours of easy walking over a dozen kilometers of path and some new insights were definitely an excellent intro to a pleasant Friday on the Slovenian coast... Conditions for walking in the morning coolness were more than excellent.

...battery died - continued through tourist Portorož. saltworks and Bernardin back to start via Morsko biloško station in Piran. Easy path with modest elevations but such are needed to discover an attraction...24

Repetition of the hike together with Marina in the morning coolness. Conditions for walking excellent and as usual between Fiesa and Salinera more solitary in the shelter of low-growing forest while the rest of the path was more touristy ,,stand,,...Track:Between Piran and Strunjan, 20.07.2012
