Hello. Any suggestion for binoculars? Somewhere max 200€. What do you use, if you have them? I'd look at hills or from hills, some animal, flowers etc., more of a hiking variant Looking at something in this direction: 7 x 42 Nikon http://www.koptex.com/daljnogled-nikon-prostaff-5-7x42.html Thanks for opinions and suggestions.

Think about the purchase. The thing I miss the least in the backpack is binoculars. Rarely will you meet someone with it. I don't know what the reason is. Maybe eyes are the most honest. Glasses, except in winter, don't conjure up the beauties of mountains for you. A woman is also prettier without them on her nose. Unless you're shy.

miri, I agree with your opinion about binoculars. I bought binoculars, only once took them to the mountains with me. Personally, it creates some unreal reality for me and somehow doesn't fit (doesn't suit in mountains). Best regards!

I always carry binoculars with me, because with them I mainly observe birds, often it has helped me in other situations too. Since I hike mountains mostly alone and often on unmarked paths or even off-trail, the view through binoculars has already several times shortened or eased the continuation of the path. I put it in the backpack only when I need to climb somewhere so it doesn't get caught, otherwise I carry it cross over the shoulder (around the neck it was too heavy). I have Nikon Monarch 8x42, I've got used to it because I use it also when not hiking. Your choice I like a lot, but I'd still look through it before purchase (both in shop and outside).

So more no than yes, or 1 yes others no But really it's that "unnecessary" 500g to carry in backpack...

Skrba, the decision is yours (a hundred people - a hundred different opinions). One option is also using borrowed binoculars and then you decide.

I got myself a monocular for the mountains - small, light, unobtrusive. Sometimes useful, additional weight negligible.

Well I've decided not to get binoculars this year. Next year, maybe.

Also my Stajnar 10x40, weighing 750 grams, didn't see daylight, though I was 2 days in the mountains (had it with me).

Tested. Not top quality, but you can nicely see neighboring peaks and waterfall in the valley. Advantage is it's light, small and practical.
