One trail tempts me, and I'm wondering if it's marked: St. Ana-Pl. Luža-Bistrica Peak, and of course how long it is (time-wise)?

Legenda, I've already checked this before, but I'd like to know if it's marked, from St. Ana via Luža to Bistriška špica, not from the Austrian side, thanks anyway.

Since no proper answer to my question and it's anniversary of Carinthian plebiscite I went from St.Ana across border to neighboring country (Pl.Luža-Bistriška špica). Path well marked, today frozen in shady spots and dangerous for slip. Ascent 2.5h descent 2h. Autumn colors at peak simply dreamy.

On Friday, 05.08.2011, hikers and women hikers from PD Velenje climbed to Bistriška špica (2114 m) and Končnikov vrh (2109 m). Start was in Bistrica pri Pliberku or parking at lower gondola station. First gondola to upper station, where sun greeted us on top, below in valley fog or low clouds. Then continued to Bistriška špica (2114 m), on summit quite windy, sun plenty, magnificent views no words (sea of fog in valley ). After break, photos, snack continued to Končnikov vrh (2109 m). Descent towards Koprivna, goal hut at Kumer farm (1230 m), under Jekl farm, second highest in Slovenia (some say highest). After snack/lunch drive home.

When sun for days in vain tries to break thick gray above us, time to meet it... This time from Topla valley to Bistriška špica, then ridge to Kordeževa glava and descent secured path past hut on Peč down to parking under hut. Latter allows luxury of two cars Path without features, some snow remains on ridge, didn't stop at hut as late. Very nice tour, autumn gilded with views on ridges peaks soon (again) to come.

Lidija's photos are really beautiful. Well, we had sunny with blue sky and occasional bit of wind but the camera couldn't capture all the sunny moments. We went from the lower gondola station up the Petzen ski slope with touring skis. When we used to speed down here with alpine skis, I didn't think it was so steep. From the ski slope upwards we cut our own track towards Knipsovo sedlo and further to Končnikov vrh and Bistriška špica. It was quite possible to find snow for skis. Back the same way and down the empty ski slope at 16h. Views were magnificent, on Kordeževa glava there were lots of people, on our path we were alone.

Some snapshots from yesterday's ascent to Peč. I started the path in Austria a bit above planina Luža and descended from there to the starting point at Kumra. From Kumra I ascended the marked path to Knipsovo sedlo, from there continued left to Končnikov vrh and further along the ridge to Bistriška špica. I descended via the Austrian path. The whole path is dry and passable without any special features. Best, Tadej

Koprivna-planina Luža-Bistriška špica-Končnikov vrh-Bistriška špica-Koprivna On Saturday we started the tour at the end of Koprivna valley. To planina Luža there's a nicely groomed ski track, same further through the forest all the way to the flat ridge of Pece. It was a wonderful day so we walked twice between Bistriška špica and Končnikov vrh. Snow was slightly frozen in the morning, somewhat softened in places. Skiing on Pece plateaus was great, lower down less so. Lots of snow, so debris on plateaus almost completely covered.

On Sunday, 14.7.2013, we went to Bistrica Peak via this path over Končnikov vrh. We did a circular tour: Najberž (parking) - Končnikov vrh (via Walter Mory ferrata) - Bistrica Peak - Najberž. The tour took 8 hours. We had great weather and met a large group of Austrian hikers at the summit. The ferrata itself is really great and I recommend it to all ferrata lovers Pictures from the hike can be seen on the website of Planinsko društvo Matica Murska Sobota: http://www.mojalbum.com/pdmaticams/20130714-bistriska-spica-walter-mory-ferrata/peca/20931627

The Koprivna valley was also snowy, so it was nicely wintery from the start. From Planina Luža the ski track was already made, to the top of Bistrica Peak there was more and more snow, I think more than a meter of dry loose powder. At the top fog started chasing, a strong westerly wind blew up, so we quickly left the summit. Surprisingly not many visitors, not many ski tracks downhill either, so the descent was wonderful in the loose powder like for a long time. The middle part we followed ski tracks through the forest, I think we wandered a bit here and there, then finally found the exit from the forest to the road to Sp. Luža.

On Saturday morning at 7:30 from Najberž parking on path no. 3. To the summit solitary, only one extremely fast hiker overtook me. Path excellently marked, not strenuous, moderately ascending. At the peak some visitors, towards Končnikov vrh already crowded. Skipped Kordežova glava just because of that and approaching clouds. To the start along the ski slope, where descent due to steepness strenuous. With skis much easier. In six hours 18km and 1600m elevation gain.
