Yesterday I was on Bogatin. Starting point at Savica Waterfall, then past Koča pod Bogatinom to Vratca and to the summit from the saddle between Bogatin and Mahavšček (after the bend left upwards). This section of the path, the last cca. 40-50 elevation meters, was the most uncomfortable, as the little path is quite "scree-covered", so you have to be careful going up, even more so down. In Koča pod Bogatinom they have phenomenally good štruklje!!! gabi

The path to Bogatin and Mahavšček is completely dry. Also, the hut below Bogatin is already open

Godovčan, I'm curious if the hut is open non-stop, because my next route will be exactly a repeat of yours. Thanks!

Komna is all year, under Bogatin it's open early because they're doing some sewage plant and it's open non-stop to the end of the summer season.

Godovčan, thanks, it's true what you wrote. I also noticed something's being done at the hut, I have a pic here on the forum from when I was on Komna, but didn't go to the hut. In a month or two I'll surely head to this beautiful corner.

I've been planning for a while from Savica past Komna to Bogatin, but today I could say "when I finally have a free day, I'm in the clouds with joy". The forecasted sun lasted only to Komna, then clouds embraced the peaks and views to neighboring summits were limited to rare moments. But more enjoyment in the flowers. There's really no lack of them, from globeflowers, gentians, alpine rose, Carniolan lilies and many unknown to me. Nothing special about the path, it's nice for walking, except the last part under Bogatin, which due to scree on the slope requires more caution. I turned back on the summit ridge, as I gave up hope that the clouds and wind would calm at least briefly. There will be another chance.

@potepinka The edelweiss hurried with blooming, wonder what will bloom in August on mountain meadows. Nice and next time more luck with views.

Potepinka, I've checked your pic collection - nice. I don't have a good enough camera for close-ups - flowers, but for several weeks now I've been putting my mountain flower pics on the forum - which flower is this and I'm trying to identify them. Sometimes I succeed. I know the main ones well, otherwise I don't neglect any. I was on Vrtača a bit disappointed, mostly without flowers. Rare Vrtača bellflower is supposed to grow here, but it probably blooms later. I saw striped monkshood. Triglav roses and Triglav nepeta are supposed to bloom only in August.

For quite a while I had had Komna and the surrounding peaks in mind, and yesterday was the right time to visit this end. Snow started soon above Savica. Unusual mix of white and green accompanied me almost the whole way. From the hut on Komna I turned to pl. Govnjač, then off-path straight to Bogatin. I caught the ridge path only at the pass with Mahavšček. On the summit, a view worthy of the mountain's name. I descended to Vratca with crampons, elsewhere it is more or less normally passable. Snow mostly 20 cm.

Today three of us headed to Bogatin. We were early and as predicted, it was crucial to reach the summit today in warm sunny weather. From Komna to Vratca really sinking in deep. At saddle gear change, mandatory crampons on feet and ice axe in hand. Continued straight up directly to Bogatin summit, partly on hard snow, partly rock. From afar last ascent looked really steep, but wasn't. As soon as no more sinking, went on without problems. Back descended to saddle toward Mahavšček and circled back to Vratca. From there crazy sinking to Komna. From Komna to valley no issues, half the path already completely dry. Tour was quite strenuous and long. Up almost full four hours - all well fit, back maybe half hour less.

Afternoon from Zatolmin past pl.Polog and over Prehodce to Mahavšek, Bogatin and Vrh Škrli, descend via scree to marked path and back on foot to Zatolmin. Road closed to traffic due to rocks, some still went ahead by car. I prefer on foot.
