Brežice Hiking Trail

More about the trail itself (18 km) can be found on the PD Brežice website.
For the starting point we chose Čatež ob Savi and in the Les inn, which is also the first checkpoint, we bought the Brežice Hiking Trail logbook (2.5 €). We continued to the second checkpoint, to the church of St. Vitus from where there is a nice view. Then followed a descent to the village of Žejno and further to Sobenje vas, where the trail turns left uphill to the third checkpoint, which is the summit Veliki or Goli Cirnik, where we can rest on benches. Then we descended past the hunting hut on Mali Cirnik to Globočice, where the fourth checkpoint is at the Pri Martinovih tourist farm. Here my better half and our five-year-old finished the trail, as we had reserved accommodation, but I continued along the trail to Mrzlava vas and around Šentviška gora to the starting point by car.
The entire trail is normally walkable, but it could be better marked in some places.

bos could directly copy, because yesterday Škofja Loka retirees -group Četrkovci -PD Škofja Loka did the same trail. Three guides from PD Brežice helped us with leading. They know some shortcut too, so we didn't get lost with them.

Start was the same as with bos. A coffee at the start fits perfectly. Then in a good half hour at the little church Sv. Vida. Then follows almost two-hour trail to Veliki Cirnik and over Mali Cirnik to Globočice for homemade hot snack. Weather was nice. Some places a bit muddy, so caution due to slipping. Few ascents and not demanding. Nature is awakening. We came across real wild garlic meadows. We had a good time.

Even in winter Brežiška mountain path is a real treat. At first quite fresh and locally icy, but with proper gear no big problems. Nice 17 km with a bit over 700m ascent. Recommend, but wouldn't park at Pension Les anymore, better here:
