Callus

Hi everyone!

Recently I was on a slightly longer hike and on my heel a blister formed on the callus. I've had this callus on my heel for a longer time, but until now it never bothered me.

Since I'm planning another longer tour in the coming days, I'm interested what you recommend as preventive protection against blisters on this callus.
I've heard they sell some special Hansaplast for calluses in pharmacies? On the forum I read about some gel that reduces friction.

So what would be better in my case?

Thanks for the answer!

If you sweat even a little on your foot while walking, that Hansaplast is useless because it peels off in 10-15 minutes. Get the extreme version of blister plasters at the pharmacy (she told me it's for alpinists, and even for Lubnik they were barely useful), otherwise thin socks under hiking socks.

Best is if the blister heals naturally (yeah, hard to be in the valley in summer), then walk with double socks for a while

Hmm...I always wear double socks, but so far no problems. The blister has mostly gone away anyway, but the problem is the callus I've had for a long time, and now I'm looking for preventive protection against blisters on the callus and not for already formed blisters.

Jump into some climber's shop and get tape for wrapping fingers; choice of narrow (ca 2.5cm) and wide (ca 5cm) version. Sticks like hell.

I myself don't have these problems, but I always carry some plasters in the first aid kit - mainly for the youngsters who always realize too late that their sock bunched up in the shoe.
In the pharmacy you get Compeed plasters, which have no sharp edges, don't bunch up or peel off, maker Johnson&Johnson. Try them! LP!

The best solution is to get rid of the callus, do that by going to the sea, walking barefoot most of the day and going into the sea 2 to 3 times a day, salt water. I guarantee even the toughest callus will disappear within a week, or sooner.

LP =)
