The rainy period encouraged us on Saturday to visit Celje, Celje Castle, to reflect on its history.... We took the train to Celje, first a short walk through festively decorated Celje and coffee in a pleasant cafe where a black French bulldog reigns. Then along the Savinja, walk to the mountain trail signs. To the castle is half an hour, we took time for the castle tour. About the rich history of the castle we'll read more at home...from Vovbre counts to Žovneš lords, to Celje counts, from Herman to Friderik, and the love story with Veronika Deseniška. We recommend castle viewing.
A range of hiking options opens on the Celje mountain trail, to Grmada, Pečovnik Hut, and to the other side along the Savinja trail. Let something remain for nicer weather.
On the way to the castle I noticed another apricot. Descent to Celje, another walk along Savinja, snack and mulled wine.
In Celje possibility to view museums until a certain hour. We greeted the Celje photographer, and world traveler Alma Karlin. Sometimes light pre-New Year's strolling comes in handy. Home with ICS, pleasant and comfortable.
