Today's tour, which I chose, ranks among my best. I chose Medvedji dol or Barental. By car I drive to Dobiško jezero - Aichwaldsee, there on the bike and along the main road to Bistrica v Rožu - Feistritz im Rosental. There I turn right into the valley Medvedji dol - Barental, where at the end of the valley is Celovska Hut - Klagenfurter Hütte and Mačenska planina - Matschacher Alm. The road is 14 km long. 7.5 km asphalt, 6.5 km gravel. First 4 km the road gently climbs, then shorter but partly very steep pitches begin. And from there practically no
more rest. Asphalt ends a bit after the first parking, second larger parking is at the ramp where the road for cars ends. From here on by bike or on foot. Right after the ramp approx 1 km worse and very steep gravel. After that the road flattens and from here to the top it's quite steep with very hard and good surface. At the top beautiful views all around. In beautiful weather there were also many foot visitors. The hut is also open. At the hut I stop a bit, make some pics and visit the alm which is a bit lower. There everything is still closed. Back I return the same way. I recommend the tour to all who like nice views and steep pitches. Also good choice for hikers as Celovska Hut has excellent starting points to neighboring peaks.
